2025 Cincinnati Reds

VOR, you're right.  The Reds are such a frustrating team to watch.  I get down on them for the bad play, but then you have games like yesterday and wonder what could be.

Where do they plan to play him?

So they debut him at 1B, where he has very little experience.  The good thing is that Hunter Greene was pitching so he didn't really get many chances at first - mostly flyball outs.  I'd like to see him DH, but they have several guys who seem incapable of playing in the field.

Reds start off bad tonight giving up 4 first inning runs. The Jays got a leadoff homer on just the 3rd pitch of the game and then went on to score 3 more of starter Scott Barlow. The Reds have a got one run back on an RBI by Elly. The Mets are down 2-1 in the bottom or the 2nd at Detroit.

Reds got back to 8-3 and come back to make it 806 and in the top of the 4th Sutter looks like he is throwing for the home-run competition it is now 10-6 Blue Jays. Also, the Mets have scored 5 runs and now lead the Tigers 6-2 in the bottom of the 5th.

The Reds keep fighting pickup 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th and it is now 10-8 Jays.

The Reds lose 12-9 they had to go to a bullpen game when scheduled starting pitcher Nick Lodolo was scratched with an illness. The Mets defeated the Tigers, so the Reds fall back to 5 games behind the Mets for the final Wild Card spot. We need a win tomorrow and a sweep of the Mets this weekend or at least 2 out of 3 I think to still have a shot. Not feeling too confident it however.

Chase Burns is apparently ready to return. Cowboy made a comment yesterday that almost every organization would have activated him yesterday when they saw Lodolo couldn’t go. Instead it seems the Reds threw away a game they couldn’t afford to lose and tired the bullpen in the process.

Gave up 13 tonight.  Still hanging in because the Mets can’t get any separation.

Looks like the Giants are going to defeat the Rockies and the Reds will now fall to 5th place as the Giants will be 4 games behind the Mets now and the Reds are 5 games out.

Correct.   The Giants have gained six games on the Redlegs over the course of the last ten.

Times a-wastin.

Yes last 10 games the Giants are 9-1 and the Reds are 3-7. Hey maybe we are due to get hoot. lol

Probably now need to sweep the Mets this weekend. What made last night even worse we led 5-0 at one point.

Below is a quote from Marty Brennaman that appeared in this morning's Enquirer.

"Every announcer today has to consider every word that comes out of his mouth for fear of what reprisal will come to make ownership or management mad. I disagree with it. A lot of people felt like I had the free rein to say what I want, and they appreciated it. You could never go down that path today and be successful."

I think he is right, to extremes, where the present day broadcasters have to glorify the product and put earrings on the pig.

We hear it every night from Sadek and Larkin.  Always the best, the greatest, etc..
It is what makes me hate the Reds organization so badly.  There is no objectivity.  No honesty.  Always excuses.  Following each error or bone-headed play, Larkin follows with an excuse.  Always excuses.

I agree with Marty.  Having a lot of the experience and notoriety he had, he became a "Sacred Cow" and the organization tolerated his criticisms of some of the players, and the organization.

There is no way that they would tolerate it from a newbie.  That is why Sadek is so over-glowing on everything Reds to a fault.
Even if he wasn't I would hate him anyway.  I just can't stand his "every play is the seventh game of the World Series" style.

The media of this city makes all of our sports teams something that they are not, and this leads to let-downs and disappointment on an annual basis because we don't live up to the hype.  Pure and Simple.

Biggest series of the year at home. If the Reds throw any lineups or show any sign of not being fully committed to winning, it will show a lot.

If the Reds sweep or take 2 of 3, they will be right there but if that gets flipped, season is over.

Better take two out of three, then.
