Reds won the rubber match with the Cards today 6-2. The Giants defeated the D-back 5-1 in 11 innings.

Mets fell 7-4. So the D-Backs are 1.5 games back and the Reds and Giants are 2 back. The Reds start a 4-game series tomorrow with the Cubs who clinched a playoff birth today. The Giants start a 4 game series with the Dodgers. The Mets finish up with a day game with the Padres and the Diamondbacks are off. 

Any year that the Reds are playing meaningful games the third week of September, I'm pretty happy.

Hunter Greene could be a top 5 pitcher in MLB next year. Unfortunately, health is an annual issue.

Reds top the Cubs tonight, 6 - 3.  Now sit just a 1 game out of the third WC slot.

In true Redlegs fashion, they did what I said, but in the opposite order, going like .333 and now tearing off 4 in a row during crunch time. Wild thing is, if they'd just stayed CLOSE to .500 they'd be sitting comfortably. 

 

With all of that said, they've looked hungry and solid the last week. I'm hoping they can make it happen.
