Same on the optimism.  I think we are done. 

I would be surprised if the Reds don't get swept tonight ending their "not being swept in a series" streak this year.

Agree. With Ohtani on the mound, I am thinking the no sweeps streak ends tonight.

Reds go up 1-0 on the Dodgers on a solo homer by Marte of Ohtani.

2-1 them, ugh. 

Dodgers go up now 2-1 in the bottom of the 4th and still two on with only one out. The Mets sweep the Phillies tonight 6-0.

4-1. 

5-1 is the final.  Reds strike out NINETEEN times in the loss. 

4.5 back now. Reds seem to have done their job and got fans to football season before they fell off. 

The defensive deficiencies are continuing to show itself.  Not just plays that go down as errors (which there are plenty of those to go around) but the amount of misplayed balls in the outfield is outrageous. 

As far as errors are concerned as a team the Reds have committed the 6th most errors, averaging 0.57 errors per game.  Over the last 10 games they are averaging a full error per game.

 Ellie de la Cruz leads all of baseball with 20 errors.

Matt McClain has 8 errors which ties him for 8th most among all MLB 2nd basemen.

Austin Hayes has 9 total errors in 8 seasons in his career and 3 of those errors are this season.  Worse he has only played 42 games in the field this year between injuries and being a DH.

Mets fell tonight in the first of a 4-game series with the Marlins 7-4. The Reds start tomorrow's home stand tomorrow night now 4 games back.

Reds drop their 4th straight and 7 out of the last 8 in 10 innings tonight at home to the Cardinals 7-5. The Mets are winning big in the 8th so this loss will drop them now to 5 back. Honestly, they are lucky with the way they are currently playing they are not further back.
