Must admit, a bit surprised at the amount of Boyle County selections.

Is this all because of replacing Dawson and Bodner? Or the other top 4A teams improving enough to catch them? A combination?

I feel like I remember a few posters this offseason saying this team had the potential to be better than last years Boyle Co squad. Has that fire simmered a bit?

  • I am a little conflicted there. Who is going to beat them?  On paper they look like number one with maybe Cooper a close second.

Most likely to repeat is Pikeville and Boyle.  I will be absolutely shocked if both those teams don’t repeat.  Most likely to not repeat is Mayfield.  They are still going to be very good but they los

  • I will say Mayfield just because of how good LCA and Beechwood are.

Guess I need to read a little better before I vote. I thought it said who's likely to repeat. Oh well. I believe Mayfield will have a good shot at repeating this year. Heard some good things so far. We will get a better picture at next Friday nights scrimmage.

Don't I feel stupid now.  So did I.

I thought it said who is most likely to repeat.  I'm not smart.

I saw it and thought it was a PSYOP.

Has it ever happened that all teams repeated the following year?

@Rebel It’s been shy of one a few times in history dating back to 1959, even when it was just three classes it never happened.

@BillNye personally I think it’s a little bit of both, but I do believe losing Sage Dawson who ran that offense to almost perfection for the last two seasons is a big blow. Opening up with LCA and then having to play Station wouldn’t be too ideal for a first year starter either, and as you mentioned replacing a RB who ran for 1,200+ with another 400 yards in the air, losing that guaranteed safety valve won’t be very beneficial either. HC Justin Haddox will have them prepared though 100% and Quissenberry is unbelievable, but I think Tilghman just has the talent to beat em, I really do. They match up very well with the Rebels with their physicality and speed, and they have the better Quarterback. Unfortunately after they play Mayfield (like last year) they won’t be battle tested again until late November thus opening the door for lackadaisical effort and going through the motions. If they manage to keep the fire stoked for the long season ahead, I don’t see them losing to anybody.

LCA? Give us some info. They lost a lot. Of the top 4 in 2A, I think LCA is #4.

I don’t have any info once again I’m not connected to the program in any way and I don’t live in Lexington, I just figure with all the talent they have been bringing in the last few years that they will probably be really good by the end of the year. I would say 99% of what people post on here is speculation and that’s just my thoughts.

Agreed, with a bit of bias! ?

I think the Cooper and Scott Co will duke it out for the close second you mentioned but I have a hard time seeing the Purples going down with as much talent as anyone returning in class 5A. Stranger things have happened but I would say all five others would be better choices as less likely to repeat IMO.

Mayfield will be really good, I believe they will give PT all they want. I also think the only team in 2A that can beat them is Beechwood and I think that would a hard fought game. The scrimmage with Owensboro should gives a good preview.

Back in the '85 season, we(Tilghman) had early season losses to Owensboro and Cape Central. Coach Cox gave us a good rogering and told us to get it together if we wanted to win State. Coach Sean needs to do the same thing to this group of guys and stay on them the whole season.

If both QBs are healthy, I would say that BG and Trinity are the MOST likely to repeat.

I honestly don’t think Scott County gets out of the second round. They will be playing most likely either Highlands or Cooper in that second round game. Which I think both Cooper and Highlands will be better than them.
