I honestly don’t think Scott County gets out of the second round. They will be playing most likely either Highlands or Cooper in that second round game. Which I think both Cooper and Highlands will be better than them.

Let me get my popcorn for the 2nd round.  ?

  • I am a little conflicted there. Who is going to beat them?  On paper they look like number one with maybe Cooper a close second.

Most likely to repeat is Pikeville and Boyle.  I will be absolutely shocked if both those teams don’t repeat.  Most likely to not repeat is Mayfield.  They are still going to be very good but they los

  • I will say Mayfield just because of how good LCA and Beechwood are.

You're not the first person to push back on me on the Cardinals. It certainly wouldn't surprise me. Much like Highlands, they have had let down after let down since being moving to 5A.

With the offense BG returns I can’t see anybody in 5A staying within 2 TD’s. Deuce Bailey is underrated and unstoppable. Can’t wait to see how they match up with FD.

First reaction, I see Bowling Green as the least likely to repeat.

South Warren wins it every three years (2015, 2018, 2021) so it stands to reason the Spartans should be in Lexington in December, right?!

@Rebel It’s been shy of one a few times in history dating back to 1959, even when it was just three classes it never happened.

@BillNye personally I think it’s a little bit of both, but I do believe losing Sage Dawson who ran that offense to almost perfection for the last two seasons is a big blow. Opening up with LCA and then having to play Station wouldn’t be too ideal for a first year starter either, and as you mentioned replacing a RB who ran for 1,200+ with another 400 yards in the air, losing that guaranteed safety valve won’t be very beneficial either. HC Justin Haddox will have them prepared though 100% and Quissenberry is unbelievable, but I think Tilghman just has the talent to beat em, I really do. They match up very well with the Rebels with their physicality and speed, and they have the better Quarterback. Unfortunately after they play Mayfield (like last year) they won’t be battle tested again until late November thus opening the door for lackadaisical effort and going through the motions. If they manage to keep the fire stoked for the long season ahead, I don’t see them losing to anybody.

For what its worth, they will be replacing the 1200 rusher with one that rushed for 1870 as a Soph but played wide receiver last year. Bodner was hardnosed as they come when it comes to getting those tough yards but D. Brown can take it to house about any time he touches it.

Bump.

With one day left till the 24' season is underway, have the scrimmages or any internal issues such as injuries, departures, etc. affected how you feel towards the defending champions?
