I was at the game and we got no explanation for this. Maybe it was discussed on the update thread. On Cov Caths last drive, after the long run by the QB down to the Boyle 14. Cath had 1st and 10 from the 14. Boyle had 3 timeouts. Boyle got the personal foul facemask on the next play. ½ the distance to the goal automatic 1st down. 1st and goal from the 7. Cov Cath got the new 1st down, but the chains never moved. After 2 more plays and 2 Boyle timeouts, Cov Cath got the ball to the 4 and the refs measured and awarded them another 1st down (after CC had gained 3 yards total) Colonels could then take the knee after gaining a total of 3 yards for a fresh set of downs. Did anyone watching a stream get an explanation for that?

39th on the list of all time wins nationally as of the beginning of 2023. 11 State titles. Tremendous tradition! Hopefully the administration finds the right coach and then gives that coach the support this proud program deserves.

Its been that way in that middle of nowhere area for decades and decades. '84, '87, '89, '91, '92, '94, 99, 2000 (2), '01 (2), '02, '03 (2), '09, 10,'17 (2), '20, '21, '22, '23 - Over the past 40 seasons, one (or both - 4 times) of the two schools in the county won a state championship 22 times in 4 different classes. Many of those years they played in the same class and both teams couldn't win or go to state in the same year. Winning streaks: 47 - Boyle (with 3 other 25+ game streaks) 42- Danville Danville had a dominating run from the middle 80's to mid 2000's. Boyle began its run in the late 90's. And when you consider football talent in the area, tiny (now defunct) Harrodsburg High, 10 miles away, produced more NFL talent than Danville and Boyle combined during that time period. Pioneers such as Jason Dunn, Craig Yeast & Dennis Johnson all played in the league along with a slew of others that went on to play D1.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I believe last years Boyle team was just a bit stronger than this years squad. However that amount is negligible at best. Still believe the Rebels handle business come Friday with a comfortable win, 42ish-14ish.

LCA at Mayfield and the Central at CAL rematch are two matchups I'm looking forward to in the quarterfinals.

Letcher came to play and the Rebels are having an off night, which very well could be caused by what Letcher Co Central us doing to them more than just being an off night. Letcher has stopped Boyle twice on downs and intercepted Murphy once for his first int of the year. 13-6 Rebels 2nd qtr.

Is this the most lopsided loss in the long storied history of the program? I'm very familiar with the Ads program since 1984, and I cannot remember them giving up 66 points in a game, let alone a 66 point defeat.

I believe you are correct in your memory. My memory is vague on exactly how it ended, but Lex Cath won that game 30-29.

Yeah, there were less classes and more teams per district then, but my post wasn't some kind of commentary on the state of the playoffs and classes in 2024, it was more just about that run of Bourbon County. The original post asked about who was in upset alert and it reminded me of Bourbon County pulling off 3 significant upsets in the same playoffs while district mate Lex Cath pulled off one (maybe 2) of their own. It was a great playoff run for a team who pulled upset after upset in convincing fashion on its way to a surprise state title. Whether it was 4 classes or 6 they were still winning games week after week that were definitely considered upsets.
