Should be Somerset at Prestonsburg in 2A I believe.  Prestonsburg has the better RPI.  

Why does Covington Catholic have to go to Boyle County if they’re better  in RPI than Bardstown is?

Because districts 1-4 and 5-8 are grouped for the quarterfinal round.

Thanks. I didn’t realize that. If you're going by RPI after 2nd round then it needs to be strictly RPI IMO. Doesn’t seem fair to me.

LCA at Mayfield and the Central at CAL rematch are two matchups I'm looking forward to in the quarterfinals.

Ironically in this case, while Boyle County is certainly the tougher matchup, CovCath might actually prefer how it turned out, because if it was statewide re-seeding after Round 2, CovCath would go to Paducah Tilghman.  That 4.5 hour trip hits a certain type of way.

In 3A, if CAL, Union County, Belfry and Lexington Catholic win, all of which are very possible, Belfry would have to travel to Union County. About a 6 hour trip.

Ashland flew to Paducah in 1975 for the State At Large Championship game.

Back in 70’s, Ashland had BIG money in Ashland Oil, CSX hub at Russell, major steel mills, all Eastern Ky coal shipped by rail or barge and considered the financial hub for miles.  Tomcat supporters everywhere wanted only the best for their basketball and football programs.
