Same, Clark's style fascinated me too and I think Steph is a good analogy.  It certainly didn't have anything to do with race or sexuality (like I had any clue about that), it was pure basketball talent. 

I look at it different in the basketball realm. Steph is who first think of as a natural comparison and it makes sense. Both are having revolutionary impacts, but Clark is different in that she’s physically able to do what most women can’t (at this time). The guys could physically do it, but it was just a taboo way of playing. Now it’s all you see.

Has anyone watched replays to verify or negate my thread observations that the referees were holding Caitlin and her defensive opponents to radically different standards?  Ticky-tacky calls against Caitlin on D, and non-call muggings when she is on offense.  I remake that observation again after rewatching the Tuesday game.

It's these takes that infuriate me as a minority. 

There are PLENTY of opportunities to bring race up, because it's warranted. Caitlin Clark is not one of those and trying to make it that way just makes them look stupid.

To me, it is the race vs racist argument. Acknowledging her race as part of the package is fine, but the defining characteristic of Clark is her game.

To make it about race, they would have to show proof that someone of equal or greater caliber as Clark didn't get the recognition she has. They can't do that, because it hasn't happened.

Agreed. I also sometimes wonder if these takes are really their own, or the ones other people are pushing.

Exactly, but they need those clicks, so they'll roll with the race/sexual preference angle for that alone.

Correct.  When you throw the race card every time something happens, it's hard to be heard when it actually does need to be played.

Well, it’s not getting any better.  In yesterday’s game Chennedy Carter literally blind-sided Caitlin with a thrusting shoulder to her back knocking her airborne to the ground.  There was absolutely no reason except the intent to injure was very obvious.  Neither were part of any action taking place when Carter targeting her.  No review just a common foul.  It is almost like the rookie will have to survive gen-pop before the refs are going to do their job fairly.  Fever are now sending special highlights to the league.  Caitlin is just playing ball and keeping her mouth shut.

They at least upgraded it to Flagrant 1 after league review. But it was pretty malicious in intent. 
 

They have got to find a way for her team to actually have her back. Charles Oakley or Draymond Green could never let their superstar teammate go through this with no repercussions.

Her teammates have been slow to have her back in the few flagrant issues that I've seen. 

Just like there were a few players early on that tried to dismiss Tiger Woods ability, most of the tour either supported him or kept quiet. Their reward came over the next 3 to 5 years as weekly tournament purses grew in some cases five times what they were pre-Tiger due to more TV revenue and sponsorship brought on by Tiger.

Heck if I was in the WNBA I'd hope that she go for 30 every night just the create a buzz and excitement for the game. 

I understand playing her tough not wanting her to beat you, but the extra curricular activities away from the ball just don't make $en$e for group of players constantly complaining about lack of pay.

I don't think it's as driven by race or sexuality as most do...it's just pure jealousy on the part of the women in the league.

 

Just saw Angel Reese that once again was spotted playing bad-girl celebrating Carter’s mugging was fined for not showing up for obligatory postgame.  Probably knew Caitlin’s mugging and her response were going to be questioned.  Just don’t understand why the players aren’t celebrating the new riches the league is on the threshold of capturing rather than jealously (?) trying to illegally and brutally injury it.  Play her hard and competitively, but don’t try to take her out.  Hope the knees aren’t attacked next.  Refs…..do your job.
