What about parents? Parents are the ones that make the choice to go somewhere during fall break. Be it there is a game or not.

I find it there a good chance from reading comments those that have coached and those that have not. Those that have not tend to have a different view of most of the realities of coaching HS football.

I would think that if the HC comes out and says he is going on vacation that sets the tone for others to follow suit. If the parents truly care about the culture of the team and support their child making sacrifices/buying in to what the program is trying to accomplish then they stay and work during fall break...if their team has practice/a game and they choose to take their child away for a week, I think that speaks volumes too about being unreliable.

I'm just not here for the Lincoln County doesn't support its coaches and programs.  It's not the community and administration fault that the product was poor.

I did not mean to imply that the community support is not there.  In fact, I think the support has been as high the last 3 or 4 years as I've ever seen from a community stand point. Booster club activity, new facilities etc. But there was a significant administrative change that affected the Head Coach.  Josh was only in year 2.  I don't think he was given enough time.  Just my opinion.

Casey County football took fall break off.

Does that eliminate Levi Rogers from consideration for this job?

Please refer back to any comment I have made in this thread to show where I said taking off for fall break should eliminate any coach from getting the position.

Your post I quoted above sounded like you think taking fall break off is bad. Did I read that wrong?

Do I agree with it? No. Do I think you can blame the parents for taking their kids on vacation during that week if the coach has already made it apparent that he won't be there? No, you can't. To me it is a commitment thing...you signed up to play football, you know football is played in the fall during fall break, honor your commitment and use that week to get better, especially if it is a bye week.

The decision to take off is up to that coach and whatever he thinks best is for his program.

Serious question.  Why does this break question only get argued with Fall Break and Football? Or am I missing out on the discussions of how Breaks impact other sports?
I’ve never known of a Basketball Team that took Christmas Break off but also never heard of a Team that didn’t take a few days off for people to Travel. That’s perhaps a bad example.

I've also never heard Baseball and Softball Teams taking Spring Break off…

I think because with football only playing once a week you see many schools schedule their bye week to coincide with fall break. The other sports use the breaks to get in extra games or take out of state trips to play. Football with just one game a week isn't afforded that opportunity to play extra games, so many coaches use that week for a physical and mental break for their programs a few weeks before the playoffs start.

Many softball and baseball programs play out of state games that week, allowing for players and families to schedule "vacations" to coincide with playing games in southern states like Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.

Spring break absolutely affects baseball and softball. While some teams take trips to sunny places to play, the ones that don't (or can't) do schedule games, but will typically be missing several players or more. The one thing that helps, is the weather is typically still bad in KY and at least one or two of those games get rained out. Also, with so many games being played in a season, most of which don't even impact the playoffs, the spring break games do allow coaches to get some other guys some game reps and taking a loss or two isn't really that big of a deal.  Football has only 10 regular season games, all of which can impact RPI and possible playoff seeding.

On the question, really I was more making the point that it is very expected that players are with their team during Christmas and Fall Break.
Coaches are as well.
I agree working a few days off in a break like Fall, Christmas or Spring is doable and favorable to all involved.
High School sports guys…

Any news on the actual coaching hire?  I'm hearing rumors of Levi Rogers being contacted and that he is taking the job, but that is just rumors at this point.

Names mentioned in this thread so far have been: Tyler Ray, Jackson Arnett, Nick Mills, Bryson Yaden, Levi Rodgers, Daniel Cooper and Phil Russell.  Also rumored to have expressed interest are Brandon Smith, Sam French and even Spencer Crutchfield!! I have not received confirmation that any of these people have applied but I would expect some movement soon from hiring committee at LC.

I have talked directly to Tyler Ray he is not considering leaving BC for any jobs at this time.

Can't see a scenario in which Brandon Smith coaches at Lincoln over South Warren.  I could see Larry French coming back.  Lincoln Co. would be lucky to have him.
