  • Not sure why all the discussion on Cooper's QB being injured is so important. Injuries are part of the game and let's just hope ALL players from ALL teams stay healthy.

Great review of the Cooper Jags. Great team. What kind of depth do they have at QB besides what I saw in the State Finals when O'Hara went out for a couple of series?

Mike Mulville a transfer from Ohio last year played QB and LB and was conference player of the year before transferring to Cooper last year. Unfortunately he tore his hamstring before the first scrimmage last year and basically missed the whole regular season before starting to play in the playoffs. Which he was used only on defense for the playoffs since he still wasn’t fully healthy. So they would have him that could play QB if something happened to Cam. Also Coopers stud WR Isaiah Johnson was also a stud QB his whole life before switching to WR his sophomore year after he lost the QB battle to another stud QB in Cam O’Hara. So they have two other guys who start varsity at other positions that could be pretty good options to fill in at QB if O’Hara suffered an injury that takes him out longer than just a possession. Plus have Drew Hartman who was the JV QB last year that will be a Junior. Then also their QB from the freshman team last year.

I like how Cooper has and develops multiple QBs.

I think the Jags are going to be almost impossible to beat for all but two or three 5A teams.

A lot of Studs. Great to know they have that much Depth. Still think it may be a really big drop off if stud O'hara were to go down.

There's not a team in NKY that this doesn't apply to. Every team needs depth at EVERY position to be successful.

It's nice to have that many Studs.

I would think if any team loses a D1 QB there would be some drop off. I mean that is why he won the QB battle as a freshman to begin with, because he is that good. Just answering the question on if they have other guys that could step in at QB if absolutely needed.

I would say that any and all teams in 5A that lose their starting QB are out of the running to win it all as long as some of the other teams keep their starting QB's. Cooper may have a nice backup but D1 offered QB's do NOT grow on trees and there is no replacing them. Cooper is where they are because of what has come to fruition by adding O'hara to a great mix of other guys. Minus O'hara, that great group of other guys is still a tough team... but not a title contender. Which is the same story for any of the teams with QB's named in the thread "The Super Six".

Hearing news a defensive coach who’s been instrumental for the Jags for years may be stepping down.  Does anyone have information on the matter?

IMO….The defense has been a solid part to the teams success and regardless what may be the case I wish the program tremendous success in 2024 on wining a State Championship.

2024 seems like the worst year ever to leave the Cooper football program.  Is it to take another job?  Boone County?  Something else?

I don’t have any specific reasons more than what was brought up already.  I’m interested to find out if it’s for another position elsewhere.

The DC made a post on social media saying he was stepping down. From the post it doesn’t sound like it for a new job. The post made it sound as if there were some philosophical differences.

Yes very odd….Maybe he is stepping away for more Family time. None the less I am sure Coach Borchers is very grateful for his time he has devoted to the Cooper program. Good Luck to him!
