Highlands 40 Dixie 7

Featured Replies

Just another day in the office, another running clock!  5 straight games only allowing 7 points or less.

The holes the OL are making the Vengaboys bus could literally drive thru!

This has been some good ole fashion smash mouth football going crazy!

Keep it rolling boys!

Whose next??

Complete domination, very impressive by Highlands.

At halftime Highlands had 426 yards of Offense to Dixie’s 6. It was once again the Benke/Geisler show.

It was nice to see some good punts out of Dixie so Highlands could rack up some decent yardage!

I don’t think Dixie got a first down until the 3rd quarter drive that ended with that interception after the tipped pass.

Another well executed game plan!

I thought Dixie might have been somewhat close early on in the game. Very impressive win Highlands! I know I said this earlier on in the season, but Highlands truly hasn’t been the same team that they were since losing to Covington Catholic. It’s almost like a beast awakened within them, because they have gradually improved each game since then.

In my opinion it’s due to the men on the line! These guys are beasts! Haven’t seen a line dominating like this for the Birds in at least a decade.

Congrats to Highlands. The #1 ranking is well deserved. It’s hard to imagine this freight train being stopped.

The whole Benke / Geisler thing is going to be a tough thing to stop in the playoffs.

Hats off to Highlands on a really good win. Some like to dump on Dixie but they did have a good competitive team. Just no answer for Highlands this year but competitive in all the other games. Burke and Co. has them trending in a good direction. Sad to see my boy play his last game and go out like that but I do think and feel that it was to a championship team. This district in hind sight was an absolute monster. Northern Kentucky football seems to be back on the map again. Three of the six trophies have a legit shot at making their way up North this season. Best of luck to the BlueBirds the rest of the way.

I think 5A is wide open at this point. BG, Obro, Cooper, and Highlands are all on pretty even footing at this point, which makes for an exciting next several weeks!

Uhhh....nope.

Nobody is on even footing with Highlands right now.

Based on a win against a 5-win Dixie team? Highlands is good, no doubt, but in the four games against teams with a pulse they have won by 6 and 7 over Lex Cath and Cooper and lost by 14 to 4A Cov Cath who is a distant 3rd best team in that class. They have one really dominating win over a good Ryle team.

So, I will agree they are the favorites, but to say they are some distant untouchable in 5A is comical.

Highlands rolled in this game. But I agree they need to fix a few things. Always room for improvement. One thing that stands out is their discipline in not getting the unsportsmanlike penalties and personal fouls. They have literally disappeared since being addressed. Until Highlands wins state again, I would say they are back. Definitely in right direction. But these boys need to finish it and get Highlands back on top.

North Laurel will nothing to overlook. They have some legitimate players and a great coaching staff that has them in the 3rd round of the playoffs.

Just sayin!
