I agree here. I would’ve played in a game that didn’t mean Anthony just to play one more time. The amount of work and effort put in to play a season, the team deserves to exhaust playing all willing opponents 

The Pendleton County head football coach job is listed as open.

There are several teams at 0-10 who are going to play. Heck one of the teams in that position is the all-mighty Danville Admirals. Each team has different circumstances going on and I’m sure Pendelton County issue warrants them to cancel their playoff game while Danville will travel to Beechwood and put up the best fight they can to try and win a game. All teams deserve the right to make that decision for themselves. If they have qualified to make the playoffs under the current system structure then who are we to say they don’t deserve it. I really dislike this time of year because like mentioned before this is a topic every year and it is beaten to death.

I did a quick check and found soccer teams who won 1 match all year and played in the post season. So how did they earn a spot in the playoffs? Why should soccer be different? How many first round district soccer matches were there with 10-0 or similar blowouts?

All that and not a thread anywhere screaming for soccer teams being excluded from the post season.

If all that will happen is a severe butt kicking and kids getting hurt, I think its a reasonable move to withdraw. The coach stepped down mid season and the program is having severe problems.

Things are bad in Butler, I fear they may be putting in a new turf field and it will only ever see Futbol.

Districts in soccer are more localized and teams aren't having to make 2-3 hour bus trips to get beat in the first round is some of the issue.  But I'd actually be fine if district tournaments were more exclusionary in the other sports.

There is a financial evaluation in this. Football for most schools is a big revenue generator. Do the revenues produced during the season generate the revenue to justify the cost of travel?

That turf field fight be the only reason Football is surviving.. at least the Varsity level.

This is a good point here and really drives a lot of the discussion.  I can't imagine the gate for a lot of these #1 seed vs. #4 seed matchups are high but I could very easily be wrong in that.

The KHSAA removed the TBA off the game and have moved East Carter out to play the winner of the Lloyd vs. Fleming Co. game.

Good for Pendleton County, IMO.

Sure you’ll find a handful of kids on any 0-10 team that want to play again, especially seniors. You’ll never convince me the majority of those kids want to drive four hours to get their teeth kicked in one last time.

Maybe I am wired different than most. I would want to play. Even if I knew that we would get running clocked, I personally would want to compete and see first hand what I could and could not do.

I’m pretty confident that most non-senior football players on an 0-10 team have little to no desire to play that 11th game.
