This one should turn out to be a good one. In my opinion, 2 of the top 4 teams in the state playing.

  • I’m going against the grain and picking Corbin at home.

Game will be out of reach by 3rd quarter. 1st quarter there will be some adjusting to noise/atmosphere and whatever schemes the Redhounds run. 2nd qtr and 3rd qtr, Broncos settle in and things will qu

Corbin 21-20.

I think Douglas wins, but this will tell  us about this years Corbin team. To me can they stop teams that are as talented, or win in a shoot out with those teams.. that is where they have fell short.

I'll say Douglas by 7 in this one.  Should be a great game.

I think FD wins but I would like to think going into the 4th quarter that it's still up for grabs.

FD and I don’t think it’s close.

Random question, but how does Corbin have enough kids to be 4A when they’re city population is listed at under 8,000?

Are they playing up a class?

Tri County and independent school so they pull from Whitley, Knox, and Laurel County. Along from a few other places in the state depending on who you ask ?

No.

The Corbin school district goes beyond the city limits. A lot of what used to be the northern end of the Whitley County district is now part of the Corbin Independent school district. Corbin Primary School is located in Whitley County outside of city limits.

A lot of the Corbin area population lives within 5 miles outside of the city limits in any direction.

To play in 4A your school needs to have a boys population ranging from 410-525. Corbin highschool has had an avg boys population of 453 from 2019-2023.

Out of a population of 8000 if you say 4000 of them are male, I could definitely see 450 of them being high school aged. And their town being split between 3 counties definitely helps as well

The school that really surprises me in my opinion is Louisville Central only having enough boys to play in 3A despite having a school population of 1200+ which is by far the largest population of any 3A School next largest is Rockcastle and Franklin Simpson at only 819

No one really lives in the city limits of Corbin. Just outside of proper city limits are several subdivisions, as well as kids from the surrounding tri county area.

37 - 7 Douglass

Central's magnet health care programs account for much of the imbalance.

The newish 2A WEB Du Bois is literally the new "Male" of the JCPS - all boys.

? Think Douglass wins comfortably.

Is this game livestreamed anywhere?  Do they at least use the NFHS Network? If it is streamed would someone, please provide the link on here for me. I had an accident at work in February and have had to have multiple knee surgeries and am currently in a wheelchair recovering from hopefully my last surgery and cannot get out to watch games. Thanks hopefully in advance.
