Bowling Green (1-1) travels to Lexington, but not to Bryan Station High School (0-2) to take on the Defenders of Bryan Station at Lexington Christian Academy for the opening act of the LCA Bowl.  This will be the first meeting between the two teams.  Both these teams have lofty aspirations for this season, but early on have found the road pretty rough in their opening two games.

Bowling Green faced a very good LCA squad at the Rafferty's Bowl and played an epic game they ultimately came out on the down side of a 56-52 setback.  But last Friday at the Rash Stadium Swamp, the Purples bounced back with a solid win against a good Owensboro team winning 42-28.

The Defenders have had a very tough schedule this season falling in the opening game of the season at Trinity 36-3.  Then last evening in the opening game of the Rebel Bowl at Boyle County came up short 17-10 against a very solid Franklin County squad.

The Purples are led by JR QB Deuce Bailey who is on a tear to open this season.  Against LCA, Bailey had over 450 yards passing.  Against Owensboro, he had over 320 passing yards with 5 TDs and 1 rushing TD.  Many played well for the BG offense, but for me it was the improvement of the BG defense that I found most satisfying last Friday after giving up 800 yards and 56 points to the Eagles of LCA.  Still work to do, but going in the right direction.

The Defenders are led by their Mr. Everything SR J T Haskins who lines up all over, but most notably at WR and Safety.  But had heard rumors that Haskins may have been injured in the Trinity game and not sure if he played vs Franklin County or not.  QB Trenton Cutwright is a solid QB and RB/LB Dahvon Frazier is just a stud player for the Defenders who can cause havoc anywhere he is on the field.  I've been a big fan of @coachhawk for a long time and know he will have his team ready to go early next Saturday.

So who do you have in this entertaining game?

I'll take the Purples by a couple of scores in another shootout.

I’ll go with.

BG - 45

Station - 28

I again don’t know much about Bryan Station besides them being a formidable squad in recent history.

Station has struggled early but I expect them to turn it around later this season. I am taking BG in this one.

Tough schedule for Bryan Station but the lack of offense is a bit concerning. I think Bowling Green gets this one by a similar score as your predicted.

Bowling Green by 2 TD's. 42 to 28.

BG wins. Station currently doesn't have enough offense to win this one.

Does anyone know the ticket situation for this one?  Is it GoFan or just at the gate?

The poll is currently 35 to 1, Purples.  Does anyone think Station has a chance to win this game?

I think they have a chance, but they haven't played well this season at all really.  But know they have very good players and are well coached.  I think they need some early breaks and turnovers and for a BG defender to trip.  Anything to get them out of the gate well.  If they are down 14 at the end of the 1st Quarter, that's not good.  If they are up 14 at the end of the 1st Quarter, then game on.

One stat on this, BG QB Deuce Bailey through 2 games is 51 for 70 (that's over 72%) for right at 800 yards 9 TDs and 1 INT.  When your signal caller is playing this way, it forces the other team to try to score with you.  Station just hasn't been able to do that this season yet.

I think it's worth noting that the massive numbers BG's defense surrendered in the LCA game have come back to earth somewhat when LCA put up over 600 on a Boyle team who had the benefit of the film of watching BG go through it the week before.

Purples offense seems to already be clicking on all cylinders.

I think teams will have to score 50 to beat them (aka LCA).

Purples defense (8 new starters) are improving. Special Teams has been above average and will also improve.

I think Purples will come out with foot on the gas.
