John Rodenberg of CovCath has left for Roger Bacon

Mike Wolfe should have been hired in the first place. Many and I mean many major supporters of CCH wanted Mike as the new head coach. Would Mike even be interested anymore after being slapped in the face, IMO. I don't think I would. As mentioned, retirement from the public school is much better than the private school.

If I remember correctly, Mike pulled out of the running. Maybe it was to save face. Maybe it was money related. I'd be shocked to see him apply again.

BTW, officially at CCH there is no news.

I'd guess that will change on Thursday. Good move by CCH folks to not comment until Coach R speaks to the team.

With that said, early money is on Dave Wirth.

I know the Wolfe brother's and I beg to differ w/your assessment of Mike not getting the job. CCH did not hire him, bottom line.

Enlighten me, who is Dave Wirth?

You may know the Wolfe brothers and , as I said, he may have withdrawn his name because he knew he wasn't getting hired but he was interviewed.

I'm not sure if its a slap in the face. He's never been a head coach. He didn't have the resume that Rodenberg did. Why should he have been hired over others?

I.

Former Lynn Ray assistant coach. Current head coach at Hamilton Badin. Had a pretty good year this past season. Liked by the administration at CCH. Teaches religion which is what Rodenberg teaches.

Thank you, I forgot all about him. It wasn't about the resume and not being a head coach. Everyone that I know at CCH, obviously not the right ones, wanted Mike as the new head coach. He was a great player while at CCH and maybe the best ever MLB they ever had.(Flynn is a close second) Accoding to the alumni they wanted a CCH grad but it did not happen. Now they are looking for another head coach 2 yrs later.

The Covcath search committee will wise up this time and hire a Covcath guy this time, I believe, because this is an embarrasing situation to have to be in just two years removed from hiring their first coach in 30 years. Wolfe could easily be brought back into the Covcath "family", if he is not already so, if they called his number this time around. He would be an excellent choice! BTW, the guy that played along side of him at CCH was the better LB, IMO!

I can some what understand his going to Roger Bacon if his son is going to be an incoming freshman. Also, he has won a Kentucky State Championship:irked: , what else is there for him to do in the Bluegrass state?

I for one as a Bacon grad like that RB Tech has gotten a better coach than just staying in the family. WE want wins!!

Like Wildcat, I don't understand the move because I think it is a lateral one from McNick. However, and I really don't know much about this, I was told that one of the reasons Coach R went to Bacon was because there is a good chance that Purcell could merge with Bacon and if that is the case I think it is a good move on the part of Coach R. Has anyone heard anything about Bacon and Purcell?

Lots of talk about merging Bacon and Purcell. Both schools serve the central area of the city and both enrollments have been stagnant recently and certainly declined in the last decade. IF the schools merge and manage to stay below the D-I enrollment cutoff, they become a major player every year for a state title. IF they merge and go D-I, they become another LaSalle at best.

While the merger talk is strong, it's a big if. Badin and Fenwick have been losing numbers for years, and talk started about a merger at least eight years ago. Both schools are still open....

The "wanted a CCH grad" is overblown. The fact he was a great LB has no bearing. He didn't get the job because he didn't have the experience. As someone on here likes to say "no more, no less."

As I said, IMO money will prevent Wolfe from taking the job. Big pay cut and retirement hit.

Define "CovCath guy."

No one at CCH is embarrassed. Most folks I've talked to are apathetic about this coach.

Because Trinity is in Louisville and has a lot more population base to draw from than CovCath does. And with private schools Holy Cross, NewCath, St. Henry, Latin, Villa all within close proximity and public schools Beechwood, Holmes, Dixie all just as close, CovCath will never grow to the size of Trinity (unless lots of other schools close) and will be fortunate not to see a decrease over the upcoming years as the price increases.

Don't forget Bishop Brossart!!!!

Actually, for incoming FROSH it will be $24k+ over 4 years. Your point is 100% correct. At some point, and its different for every family, a hard decision is going to have to be made.

Heck, your talking the price of an average car. If you care about your kids education, pay the $24k and take the bus if you have to.

Why are the CovCath people down on him? HE WON A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP! He found what he would consider a better situation.
