So excited for Willie and his family! Staying in state at the school you grew up rooting for is amazing! Plus his huge family will be close and able to go to a bunch of games. I believe his sister is headed south to play college soccer.  Hoping he crushes it this year!

Agree. Love that he is going to be a Wildcat!

Read this today. What a great message to put out for all young people.

Blessings to the Rodriguez family!  Glad Willie is going to be a Wildcat!

Willie tweeted a picture of himself with Coach Stoops & UK Tight End coach Vince Marrow on Tuesday, with the caption "Great talking with Vince Marrow and Coach Stoops today. Cant wait to get to work soon!"

Then 24 hours later he tweeted this...which is curious.

The Transfer Portal sure muddies things up for High Schoolers.  I hope this isn’t the case here, but I agree, very very curious on this one….

Agreed.  I honestly believe the transfer portal shouldn’t open up until AFTER the early signing period from 12/20-12/22.  I’m all for kids getting a second chance, but why should they get a second chance before the high schoolers get their first chance?

I agree that HS kids absolutely suffer the most due to the portal.  1100 kids in it the very first day and 3000 by Wednesday.  Makes it tough for the high schoolers no doubt. The only problem I see with holding off opening the portal until after the early period my opinion is that college coaches will simply withhold extending offers to the 1-3 stars players until after the early signing period.  Just my opinion but the recruiting process is an absolute mess due to the portal!

How do you take this??? Is this bc kids are leaving these schools like Tennessee and Auburn (thru the portal) opening up spots? Or recruits decomitting opening up spots? Or none of the above and the schools finally just giving him an offer….so strange.

At the end of the day, Good for Willie! Well deserved offers….

I believe Tennessee had a 4 star TE recruit flip today. I’m guessing with the timing of the offer to Willie, their coaches probably had an inkling that may be happening. But recruiting is part art, part science, so who really knows.

? Willie is having another bang up wrestling season too. 10-0, the latest a Win by Pin as a "Heavyweight," per the Cov Cath hoops livestream this week.

Nice first touch for Willie!

Did he have any other stats in the game?

No just the kickoff return him and Aba Selm probably would have got some playing time but the game ended early.
