NFL Draft chatter

I'd rather have Hendon Hooker coming off a season ending injury than Anthony Richardson if I were drafting a QB.

I won't disagree with that a bit. I'd still want the cognitive test, but I think we always "hire" what we are comfortable with. Contractor for your house, lawn maintenance, NFL QB, etc. Unfortunately,

I want the data. That said, all I do with the test score is look more closely at the film, interviews, etc. No way that test score by itself overrules the other data. It is like this. If a QB threw a

I read it was the 2nd round pick.

Will Levis has gone from off the board to second best odds to be the #1 pick.

Will Stetson Bennett get drafted, or more than likely sign as an undrafted FA? Vegas has it at +100 that he'll go undrafted.

It's kinda hard to believe that a back to back National Champ QB could go undrafted in this day. The knock is that he's undersized, cocky, made some bad off field decisions and that his arm isn't a cannon. I could see him becoming what some say is the best job in the world, a solid NFL Backup QB.

Teams that wouldn't shock me to give him a shot; Cowboys, Pats, Falcons, Pack or Bucs.

He feels destined to be a sixth rounder somewhere, right?

You have to remember there are only 64 QB spots in the NFL (most teams only care two active) and relatively few of those are actually available every year. Outside of specialists (kicker/punter/long snapper), there are fewer QB's drafted than any other position. With only about 10-12 (or less) QB's getting drafted every year, guys with bigger shortcomings (like Bennet) are going to get left out because there are so many other positions to fill that will have immediate impact on a team.

I'd be shocked if, even though the proposal was tabled, there isn't an emergency QB roster change before the season starts.  The league surely doesn't want to risk a repeat of the Niners collapse again, especially in the playoffs when EVERYONE is watching.

I would agree. I don't think however, that will result in more draft picks being spent on QB's. Yes, what happened to the 49ers was painful to watch and bad for the game. But, teams have so many more pressing needs that can be addressed by the draft than using draft picks to add a 3rd qb that may never be used. Most teams will likely use free agency to address that need.

I'm more interested in who the 2nd QB taken is. Levis, Richardson, or Stroud.

That may be true.  They may be UDFA's or late round flyers like Purdy.  But you will likely have more guys in the fold because some will choose also to carry the traditional arm on the practice squad.  Not to mention, many of the aging backup retread QBs are phasing out.

Teams have always carried QB's on the practice squad, and that hasn't driven them to draft more QB's in the past. Typically, any guy teams are willing to spend draft picks on, are expected to be able to make the everyday roster and be able to play in some capacity. Even if the NFL allows 3rd QB's to be able to dress on game day, the chances of them playing and making an impact are pretty small, so I wouldn't expect that to necessarily lead to more QB's being drafted.

If the league allows 3 QBs and the roster expands to 54 for instance, you can mark it down that the number of QBs drafted will increase.  That's my point.  And you won't know until next year,  assuming they decide to make the emergency QB a thing.

He could be, but it will end in the coach and GM losing their job. In a one game scenario he might make it work, but I think he'll be the QB bust of this draft.
