As a former student and player at DHS it hasn’t been the same in years. I honestly hear after year grow more disappointed in the school system. I look at what’s gone on there the last few years and just wonder that it all can happen. Clevenger had brought the program back, youth football was getting number back up the future was bright. Since he was let go I have questioned it all and talked to a lot of people. The one thing I have noticed is that a lot of former Danville players who had their kids in the Danville system have their kids across town. Why? Because the whole system is better. Academics and athletics across town are far superior and you don’t see or hear of the school board messing things up. I hate that it looks like Danville is about to make another bad decision, hopefully for the former players that take pride in being an Admiral it’s not another decision that ruins the program and tradition 

Parks was identified on social media as the next coach on the day that Peach resigned.  It looks like it was in the works well before the season ended.  They could never interview Clevenger because he was a much stronger candidate both in terms of his record, experience and his involvement in the community.  This whole hiring process has been a sham.  All of this after the new Danville Superintendent publicly apologized to Clevenger for how the prior administration had mishandled not renewing his football contract.  The Danville community has officially been punked.

Danville will win 4 games at best. Parks has no business being in the conversion for the next Coach at DHS. 

If you apply for a job at Danville just put I'm friends with the Superintendent and Principal on your resume, guaranteed to get hired. Oh and say the former baseball coach is your uncle.

If this is the hire, I can't wait to see how the admin will try to spin it.  It's a tough sell for a coach with a 38% winning percentage.

Me too. Is it possible they are making bad decisions intentionally to force a Boyle-Danville merger? This is crazy lol, not sure if this is the hire just speculation but if it is I can’t believe you don’t try to do the right thing and save the school and program.

It does make you wonder, doesn't it?  IIRC Peach was the first Danville coach since the pre-Duffy years to not win a state title.  Now you are going to go from Peach - who I noted several times here was a good coach but walked into some bad circumstances - to someone who has never made it to the third round of the playoffs?  That's not what a supposed elite program does.  And it doesn't fit what the principal had said in the Advocate Messenger when Peach stepped down of finding a coach that would get Danville back to going deep into the post-season and winning titles.  If I were a parent, I'd be raising my eyebrows to say the least, especially with Haddix picking up where Chuck Smith left off and not missing a beat in terms of getting to state title games and winning them.

When Clevenger was fired the admin line from Danville was "We're going in a new direction."  Safe to say that "new direction" might mean "No direction" at the moment.
