Great and fun game to watch. I was very disappointed in the Birds offensive play calling here.  I know, hindsight and all.  I just felt they left a lot of points  on the field and by the time the playbook was opened it was too late.

Scott County is fun to watch on offense.  Can’t count how many times I followed the wrong ball carrier.

Next year the state is going to have deal with a new and improved Highlands program that could be very very good.

I agree with everything you said, except that they were two evenly matched teams. I would say Scott County was clearly the better team. As other including Highland fans noted in the update thread. Highlands was very fortunate to keep it as close as they did; especially in the first half of this game. Which credit to Highlands for finding away to keep within striking distance all game, and battling till the very end. 
 

I know Highlands loses Noon, but what other key starters do they lose? Or does the majority of their starters return? If the rumors are true with realignment, Highlands definitely should be one of the favorites, and possibly the main favorite to win 4A next year. It will be fun seeing them back battling for state with teams like Boyle, and LexCath again. 

Game went exactly as I stated it would. Highlands would keep it close but SC would pull away or hold on for the win. Someone asked if SC had a bruising fullback? Well that was clearly answered as Highlands simply could not stop Fryman from getting 4+ yards a carry. I would love to know how many yards he ended up with. Credit to SC as they passed the ball when nearly everyone thought they’d be running it and defensively they just bent but didn’t break and their front 3 just disrupted any consistent running game by the birds.

Meh, they were pretty evenly matched. 29-23 is no blowout. Both teams left drives in garbage can. Plus Highlands had way more turnovers and only lose by a TD is relatively even.  Scott was the better team but they don’t win 9/10 matchups by any means. They run a really tough scheme. Noon basically was not used last night which left me scratching my head.

He was used quite a bit. He couldn’t get away

McKee is a heckuva coach that sticks to a plan. The results over the years speak for themselves. Congrats to Scott County. Great season, Birds!

The safety call blew my mind.

My assumption on the safety call was they deemed the defender ran into the end zone on his own? I looked up the momentum rule in high school and it goes from the 5 yard line in, which ruled that way would’ve been 1st and 10 from the 5. I thought the officiating left little to be desired. The fumble by Scott Co at the one yard line, why did it take so long to figure out? McKee had every reason to be irate, no official hustled in to make the call they just looked like they wanted another one to make it.

But a very good game, Highlands had two or three passes dropped that would’ve been big gains and potential touchdowns. #39 was getting 3-4 yards a carry for SC as well. Overall a very good second round game.

The fumble on the one should have been a false start or a penalty on the defense,  they were trying to simulate our snap count all night.

Explain pull away or hold on.  Those are polar opposites.

Lol, that’s cute ? Actually not the greatest at movies but I did see both teams in person so I got a pretty good look at the “previews”.

Originally I thought SC would pull away but in the actual case they hung on. If SC scores just before half instead of muffing the snap at the Highlands 1 yard line they probably would have pulled away IMO.
