This is where I am.  Go someplace where you have the best chance to play right away and for the right price.

It might (and shouldn't) be just about where he's going to play right away. Also have to consider the fit academically/future career. If he gets to play football right away, that should be a bonus, not a necessity.

If you go to college to play a sport, go somewhere that you get on the field, court, or diamond.

You have to practice just as hard/long as the men or women that get to compete in games. Go somewhere you get to PLAY!!!

Depends what a particular player wants to do... Go to an NAIA school and play right away for four years, or go to a Power 5, sit a year, then get playing time for four years. Immediate playing time isn't always the preferred or best outcome for a player.

Not to mention the most important part, which is what is the best fit academically and socially. I've seen far too many kids pick a school because they thought they could play right away or based solely on athletics and ended up hating their situation. Very few kids are in the situation of athletic choices being the most important decision of where they should go to college.

I saw an article a few years ago (I will see if I can find it) that was interviewing a "12th man" on a big-time college basketball program (was Duke).  They asked him if he ever thought that maybe he would have preferred taking one of the lower level offers he had where he would have been an immediate contributor, versus the end of the bench at Duke.  His answer, paraphrasing, was I was never going to play in the NBA, and I'd much rather be on the bench in front of sold-out gyms and NCAA tourneys than averaging 12 a game in front of 750 people and bussing all over the country.  I've never forgotten that article...was interesting to me how people see things through all different lenses.

Congrats Charlie, do what makes you happy, and never forget, it is great to have options!!  NKY will be following along and rooting for you wherever you decide to pursue your college experience!
