So the would be Boyle touchdown got a motion penalty, and time expired? Or was there an additional play? I can't tell from the play by play post.

They had about three plays after that, it was a long TD and they didn't do anything after the TD that was called back.

Welp. I guess the sword in the helmet WAS the motivation.

I'm pretty sure the called back TD took a lot of time off the clock and only left :08.  There may have been one more play out of bounds for about 5 or so yards.

Two plays for sure, the first play was a completed pass for a few yards and then out of bounds that only took three seconds off the clock.

Cost them if they were to meet again in the playoffs.  LC would have home field.

Another tidbit.  The team that won the regular season matchup, has always won the rematch if they met again in the playoffs.  EVERY TIME.

Pretty sure that's not necessarily true.  I'm not sure that they've revised anything regarding RPI matchups once they went back to cross-district bracketing, but previously there was nothing at all about head to head determining site.  The two teams are all but certain not to meet in the first two rounds, and if they meet later, whoever has higher RPI will host.

Congratulations Lex Cath.  Never gave up and continued to play hard football.

Looks like we will go on the road round 3 of the playoffs.

I didn't watch the game, but I'm pretty surprised.  But these 2 are rivals and I'm sure LexCath was up for this game.  Just didn't expect them to come back on the Rebels like that.  Congrats LexCath!

The defense couldn't stop the big play and gave up two touchdowns on back to back drives. O-line couldn't stop the ends from getting pressure on Dawson during their last possession. Plays took forever to get in and led to a penalty that wiped out a would-be game winning touchdown.

It's not quite as bad as the Johnson Central decision against North Laurel, but reading this and then going back and watching the play, I was definitely reminded of it.

Of course, giving up a bomb touchdown on the next play, it may not have mattered where they were on the field.

You might be right.  But it's for certain Boyle would have to win out to probably have a higher RPI now since all the games but one are the same District opponents.

I'm a little more concerned about the history aspect.  Since 1998 the earlier post is true.

Wow.  This is definitely a surprise for me to see.

Yeah, I agree, it is certainly likely they would not host if they met again.  Not so secretly, I hope that LexCath wins the district but somehow is behind them in RPI so that Boyle County hosts.  Just to highlight that the RPI is dumb.

Great win for Lexington Catholic! Let's not forget Boyle County still has to play Frederick Douglass.

Congratulations to the Knights! I’m sure this game will be played again in the near future.

Additional play.  LC picked it off at the 8 or so and that was the game.

Rebel receiver never got set and the penalty was correct.  Wiped out a perfect TD pass and run by Quisenberry.  They have to find ways to get him more touches.

I just saw the video of the would be TD pass, the receiver was wide open! And the ball was in the air for a while and no one from the secondary was close to the receiver! Oowweeee!
