It is hard to predict where LCA is going to end up in RPI. They made a big jump this week. They are going to win the remaining games on their schedule. Their last game is against 6A Henry Clay and that will be a nice boost in their RPI. I expect LCA to be top 5 in RPI by the end of the season. Where in the top 5 they will finish is the difficult thing to figure out now. The key to the round 4 matchups will be LCA vs. Lloyd/Breathitt County in the final RPI. It is probably going to be between LCA and Lloyd at the end in the RPI battle. I think LCA is going to pass those two and that means LCA will play the #2 seed in round 4.

Also they could end up #4 in RPI and play the #1 seed. Time will tell.

Mayfeild could benefit from a #2

Owensboro Catholic remaining oppenents records are 5-1, 6-1, and 5-2 with their last game being a higher class opponent.  And two of their three remaining opponents are ahead of them in the RPI, Hancock County is the other team in between them and Mayfield and OC already beat them.

Mayfield remaining opponent records are 0-5, 3-3, and 5-2 with their last game being against a higher class opponent.

Seems to me if OC wins out they have a legit shot at making a big jump in the RPI.  Will it be enough to take the #2 seed??  Lotta variables but I see that as the biggest wild card right now.  I don't think Butler or McLean have a shot at beating them (even tho I think McLean came away with the playoff upset last year).

I think there may be a chance for OC since Mayfield's opponent record is terrible. I predicted a 39-61 overall earlier this year.

It is looking more and more to me like LCA is going to get past Breathitt County. Lloyd I am still not sure about, but I am thinking LCA will also pass them. The last game of the year for LCA is 6A Henry Clay. A win there should get them past Lloyd and into the top 5 in RPI.

Will the Tigers of Ft. Mitchell see them in the semifinals then?

In the final four, teams get seeded statewide for those semifinal games. If Mayfield and LCA are higher in RPI than any teams in the east, then Beechwood will face another team from the east in the semifinals.

The gap between 1 and 2 has narrowed.

The only thing that worries me is the final game Beechwood plays 1A NCC and Mayfield plays 4A Madison-North Hopkins. The question is will Beechwood have enough of a lead to with stand the bonus points Mayfield will get for playing a higher class team.

I thought it was State wide. The number 4 team in the RPI plays the #1 team. The #2 and #3 team play. Regardless of East and West.
