Part of me also wonders how much of a fit Dixie's "hurry up and go" style of offense ends up causing for their own offensive line as it does for the defenses they face. Sure, snapping the ball within 10 seconds of the previous tackle being made will keep the defense on its heels, but if the defense does manage to get set in a scheme that the O-line isn't expecting to see, it sure doesn't give the offense much time to get adjusted.

I think Highlands' defense is going to struggle early against Dixie's offense if Dixie comes out rocking their no-huddle hurry up look. But then I also think the way I saw Dixie's defense struggle against a diverse offense like Cov Cath's with multiple skills players, Dixie is going to struggle if Highlands has Benke, Noon, Hosea, Giesler, and Class putting it together against them on offense.

In my estimation, this one should be pretty close through at least one, maybe two quarters...but then I expect to see Highlands pull away in the second half. I won't go so far as to say that I don't think Dixie has a chance in the game, because I think they do, but I figure Highlands will win this by at least a couple of touchdowns.

Hopefully the coaching staffs keep their cool at the end of this one.

I generally root for the underdog, in most cases. And as a Cov Cath grad, I like Pat Burke and am hopeful about the direction he'll move Dixie in, so I'd say I'm rooting for Dixie.

Your standoff scenario, ha, I think I'd want to see a Blue Colonel standing there pointing and laughing after it's over.

I know other Dixie parents won’t like this, but there will be some growing pains while Burke builds this program up. 

The dline and rice is the best unit on this team. Schultz is a beast at center for sure, he has the most starting experience on the team and a great leader. Other than that the dline is light-years ahead of the oline. It would be a massive upgrade. Their nt can run down rbs and te and some wrs, plus he is strong enough to take on double teams. He is college lb size and is a menace. He also has some of the longest arms I have ever seen on a kid that height. He takes a load off rice by keeping him clean and rice makes the tackles, lots of them.  De 45 constantly pressures the qb and wins most his matchups. He is fast and athletic and makes the opposing qb uncomfortable most of the game. De 48 I believe is the only one that has been hurt, and he is good, just not as good as 68 and 45. But he is still above average when he is on the field. All 3 play to the whistle and they would win most the time i feel on the oline. Even if you bring one over as a powerback and have them help block for their qb and rb it would help. Not all the time but when they have to move the chains late in games. Any of the 3 would be one hell of a lead block to spring them. The guards are decent and I think one of them 3 could play guard and maybe move the guards to tackle in goaline situations. But what I would like see happen is the oline just come out and dominate on Friday. 

So again, what’s with the suggestion “hopefully both coaching staffs keep there cool”?. I know last years game was full of stupid penalties from both teams, and ended with a Dixie INT of Highlands in the end zone. Don’t know about coaches doing anything. We like drama please indulge us.

Pretty sure I heard that the HHS's coaches were mad that no Whistle was blown when the Dixie player returned the ball out of End Zone and then threw the Ball up while play was still going on. Then a Dixie Coach in the Mass confusion walked out and grabbed the Football and walked to the Sideline.

All kinds of scenarios had to be revisited by the NKOA to make sure that didn't happen again. At least that's how I remember the situation. I'm probably way off but whatever. It was just a cluster at the moment.

Dixie Won! Moving on....

Cal Preps predicts a 42-27 Highlands win, I'm hoping the birds beat the Colonels by much more. I expect them to at least.

What is their total roster size? How can a 6A school be playing sophomores in freshman games and cancelling JV games. What’s happening over there?

Good question. Numbers don't seem to be an issue at the surface. 75 players on the Varsity roster with only 2 Freshman listed.

I'll take Highlands in this one, but if Dixie can clean up their game, Dixie could keep it close.

Not sure the reasoning, but could be due to the QB situation.  The JV and Froshmore QBs are both down injured.  They've plugged a sophomore into the spot that hasn't played the position before, and he's been handling duties for both teams.  Not sure if he got injured against Ryle the other night or not.

As for total numbers, I know they went up this year after Brossart left.  Turkeyfoot numbers are up too, so I expect them to finally field a true freshman team next year as they have 29 on the 8th grade roster this year.
