The Highlands Broadcasting Network is really good too.

To add to this topic a bit, Highlands will be honoring the 1982 State Championship team on Friday.  It has been 40 long years since this team set the then state record of 15 wins in a season.  Among those 15 wins was a victory over the class 4A state champs making this team the overall state champion per Litkenhous ratings.

Les Murray and Doug Spritzky were two of my teammates at Centre College. We were all freshmen the fall of 1983.  Good guys!

Funny you mention that, they were two of my buddies in high school and me and a couple others came on a recruiting visit with them before they ultimately committed.  Both are good guys as are all of the guys on this team.

Also had good experience with them as well. Love that the students are behind it.

They were super to me... but I am not sure they ever got a handle on my accent. They told me I could put 3 syllables in the word RED (calling the cadence on the scout team)! Lol

 

Back on topic.... I am a big fan of Roy Lucas, Jr. and Bob Sphire. Goes back to my Paris days when we first crossed paths...  Roy(Beechwood) , Bob (Knott Central & LexCath)... 30 years ago. The kids on both teams have excellent leaders. Maybe after the game, they can both go have a senior citizen Coke at McDonalds. If I were there, I would join them.  ?

This for me, I think every school should do it like Highlands.

However, I am thankful for guys like Mark Wehry and Mike Montgomery that donate their time and money to broadcast high school sporting events.

Walking 1/2 mile or so on a beautiful Friday night to see a good football game in that stadium doesn't bother me at all.
