While I agree it wouldn’t have changed the offense like a top 10 pick should. I do think he would have been better than Ross, or at least contributed more. Down in Tampa he hasn’t gotten much of an opportunity, especially the last two years. Here he would have at least got more of an opportunity, plus honestly probably would have at least saved us from drafting Sample in the second round.

Wouldn’t have had to do much to better or contribute more than Ross did.  What a wasted #1 pick

The two guys you listed are actually two of the smaller guys height wise for DTs. They are the ones specifically Geno that broke the mold showing shorter DTs can be successful.

As for the reason many are suggesting Hubbard can slide inside, it is because that is exactly what they were doing with him when they had Dunlap and Lawson. Hubbard played inside at DT on passing downs.

No one is suggesting Hubbard should be playing inside for all downs. He would still be your DE in your base defense, and in your run defense where is really good at setting the edge. We’re more talking about on true passing downs, having him slide inside. Which isn’t a foreign concept, and many teams slide quicker guys with his size inside on passing downs. Which is how the Bengals used him too in the past, when they had other DEs who were good at rushing the passer.

On passing downs you want to get guys on the field who can rush the passer. Which a front four of Hendrickson, Hill, Hubbard, and Ossai (depending how he looks) could be a good pass rush on passing downs.

I kind of like someone such as Hubbard which his height clogging up the passing lanes in the middle.

We gotta shut down all the OJ Howard talk, he signs with Buffalo for 1yr at $3.5 million, could be worth up to $5 million (I guess with incentives).

Bengals had interest people have said, but he chose the Bills.

At least we have options at TE.  This is from si.com, they have several possibilities listed but this one stood out to me because of the connection to Coach Taylor:

Gerald Everett — Everett is a natural replacement. He had 48 receptions for 478 yards and four touchdowns for the Seahawks last season. He's athletic, only 27-years-old and he was in Los Angeles with Zac Taylor as a member of the Rams.

Here is another one from the list that may have not been mentioned above:

Tyler Conklin — He had 61 receptions for 593 yards and three touchdowns last season for the Vikings. He's only 26-years-old and could stabilize the tight end position for the Bengals for the foreseeable future.

https://www.si.com/nfl/bengals/gm-report/analyzing-bengals-options-tight-end-cj-uzomah-new-york-jets

I will say I feel strongly we need to sign a FA TE.

You can take Conklin off the list now.  He signs with the Jets, 3 years, $21 million.  Thought that number may have what the Bengals offered CJ, which is why he left.  If they offered that to Conklin, not sure why he'd pick the Jets.

The Jets sign CJ and also sign Conklin?

Dallas right tackle La'el Collins has been released and is now a free agent.  Bengals probably could've traded for him and not had to give up much in return, as everyone knew his release was eminent.  But, it would have locked him in for 3 years, at $10M each.  So, you have to figure that if they offer him something, it's going to be less than that, right?  But, will that be enough to keep him away from the Patriots and the Dolphins.

The ace in the hole that the Bengals may be hoping will tip everything in their favor, is that OL coach Frank Pollack was Collins' coach his first 3 years in the league.

I think whoever signs him it will be for cheaper than what his contract was for Dallas. Because something has to be up for why no one traded for him, since Dallas would have taken basically anything in return. So the Bengals could possibly get him for cheaper and not have to give up any picks to make it happen.

Bengals have their free agent TE signing.  One year deal for former Falcon Hayden Hurst.  Last year he had 26 receptions for 221 yards and 3 TD's.

Hurst has a PFF grade of 55.3.  CJ Uzomah is 62.0.

CincyJungle.com listed all of Hurst's PFF grades:

He’s earned Pro Football Focus grades of 66.4 in 2018, 74.1 in 2019, 58.9 in 2020, and 55.3 this past season.
