North Oldham (0-2) plays host to Louisville Holy Cross (2-0) on Friday in the Mustangs' home opener.

The Mustangs will be playing their first home game under new coach Jamie Brown.    North has garnered some praise for their defensive efforts in their first two games, but North has yet to do much offensively as they learn a new system.   Linebacker Michael Davis already has 22 total tackles in two games.

Holy Cross (2-0) comes into the game with a lot of newcomers in starting roles, but the Cougars have earned two narrow wins over Casey County (by 7) and Henry County (by 1).  QB Chris Perry has thrown for 389 yards, 5 TDs, and only 2 INT, and also leads the team in rushing with 191 yards and 2 scores.

Very impressed by the coaching staff put together by Jamie Brown at North.   Brown himself has been coaching since 1990, including a tour of duty at the University of Michigan where he was a graduate assistant coach under Lloyd Carr for the Wolverine team that beat Washington State in the Rose Bowl for the National Championship

Among the group is Dave Weston the former head coach at - you guessed it - Louisville Holy Cross.   Weston is the Mustangs' defensive coordinator.   The staff is very large for a high school coaching staff, and Brown has found some highly qualified folks to lead the team.   Offensive Coordinator Anthony Payton was a WR and a Division 2 All-American at Kentucky Wesleyan.   He was the former offensive coordinator of the ALF2's Louisville Fire...

Interesting note.... Eric Dick, the head coach at Holy Cross - was coached by North Oldham head coach Jamie Brown when both were at St. X....

Interesting matchup.    The big question mark is when North has the ball.    The Mustangs' defense has played very well so far this year, particularly against the run.    But the North offense is averaging less than 2 yards per snap from scrimmage.
