A good Western Kentucky Rivalry Game. Mayfield & Hoptown have played each other since the 90’s with some very competitive games. Mayfield has won the last 3 meetings but the games have been closer each time with the last game coming in 2019 a Mayfield 22-13 win where they were facing a deficit in the 4th quarter.

Mayfield is coming off of a 35-21 win over a good Graves County team & will be led on offense by #4 Galbreath & #2 Coles as well as being led by a nasty OL led by their OT #53.. From talking with others the strength of this Mayfield squad is their defense.

Hopkinsville comes off a 28-3 loss to Louisville Ballard in a game they led 3-0 at halftime then gave up 2 Special teams scores & a snap over the punters head giving Ballard the ball inside the 5 that blew the game open. Ballard had 144 yards passing on 24 attempts and 40 yards rushing on 18 attempts. The Tigers are led by Star WR/DB Daisjaun Mercer who had 4-111-0  vs Ballard, QB #8 Jefferson and one of the Best Defenses in Western Kentucky.

Can Hopkinsville get back on track and knock off the Cardinals? Or will Mayfield continue its winning ways over the Tigers? Should be a really good game in the nightcap of the Jerry Claiborne Bowl.

Cardinals in a not so close manner.

I like this defense and it can grow into another one of those special defenses Mayfield has had in the past.

#53 Demarco Gammons (Soph) is going to be a problem for many!  He has a huge reach and can grow to be one of the best DL Mayfield has had in a very long time.

#8 Jax Rogers (Jr) is a beast!! Good to see him healthy.  If he plays anywhere near where he was two years ago, he will run sideline to sideline.

#4 Kylan Galbreath (Sr) small in stature but does not mind to come down and fill gaps!  Hybrid player can cover and come support the LB group. Very smart and durable player with a nose to the ball.

#2 Daniel Coles (Jr) the leader of the secondary.  Coles is a solid cover safety that is always dangerous with 50/50 balls.

No disrespect to Hoptown, I just think this year's Mayfield team is out to prove they still reign in Western KY

Mayfield 35

Hoptown 14

Sounds like this will be a battle of defenses.  Mayfield run game gives them an edge.  They minimized the damage from Graves' star receiver last week.  Maybe they can do the same this week.  Mayfield by a field goal.

Mayfield 27

Hoptown 24
