Kentucky 61 Louisville 49

Featured Replies

Cats showed today that they can win without Morris and Crawford having to score all the points. That is a really good sign.

A win is a win is a win, but U of L is awful this year and this win isn't going to look much better on the resume than beating Charleston, EKU, etc.

Several thoughts cross my mind after watching this one

-Glad RP is at UL, I think he peaked at UK and has been sliding downhill since

-The frosh RP claims is his best since delks at UK makes me question his judgment

-Ul's press was unimpressive and they were a terrible shooting team

-UL will be lucky to make the NIT, their schedule is going to get much tougher and they will have to finally get on the road

-UL basketball is in decline and its not going to be long until UL fans start calling for RP to head back to New England

-UK, world beaters themselves but did manage to find a little ray of hope in that they get a road win against a rival with their goto guy managing to only play about 5 minutes and most of those while having to guard againsts a 5th foul.

So true. And the credit has to go to Meeks and Woo.

Fans on UL's site is calling for Slick Ricks Job.  :D

I bet they would love to trade Pitino for Tubby in a heartbeat!Im glad that decision is not up to the Tubby bashers.

Watch the game with my Mom, who is 90 years young and a UK fan. Good game by the Cats, the D was good and it's always good beating the Cards. Now lets :dancingpa Cats fans.:dancingpa :dancingpa :dancingpa

It's difficult to trap a 6'5''+ point guard when he can just throw it over the top. The trap was effective, but whoever was in the middle of the press did a very poor job. Louisville did not rotate well at all.

Regarding Louisville's shooting woes. You can credit Kentucky's D all you want, but when the Cards are getting wide open looks is that really the defense? Simply put, Louisville stunk today & Kentucky benefitted. Had the Cards shot the ball a little bit better (or even had 1 guy shoot well), then I feel like this board could have a much different tone. And that's what makes me nervous.

There's another way to look at UL's shooting woes. With Morris and Perry on the bench the majority of the game UL should have had an obvious advantage inside the paint. Padgett scored 16 but if not for good team defense he and Palacios could have dominated the paint. However, UK played great interior defense and limited 2nd chance points and forced a cold UL team to continue to launch 3's. Sure, UL could have won had they shot better from outside but they also could have survived the cold 3pt shooting if they could have scored inside more--UK didn't let that happen.

Nice win for the Cats. Contribution from a lot of different players. As others have stated Porter continues to impress. Great offensive effort by Meeks. Hats off to Thomas and Obrzut. They continued to stay positive and both were a factor.

What conference were the Officials from? They were a step slow the whole game.

Good solid road win for the Cats today.

Some thoughts:

-Every game this UK team plays they seem to improve, albeit slightly, in some area. Today it was ball control. (I know they still had some TOs but it was much better today IMO.)

-I absolutely love Michael Porter. He's making all those so called UK fans who were complaining about his signing look foolish.

-Sheray Thomas and Woo were huge today. Neither played great, but both came up with some huge plays when needed.

-This team is starting to get there....They are not there yet by any means, but they are getting there.

-UofL is better than most are giving them credit for. They have had a huge rash of injuries and are just starting to get healthy. I don't see them as much of a NCAA tourny team, but they are definitely going to the NIT. They couldn't buy a bucket today. UK's D deserves some credit for it, but they missed a lot of easy looks.

-Derrick Charcter is pitiful right now. He could have been fouled out the first 5 trips down the floor if they refs wouldn't have been so awful on both ends.

Good solid road win for the Cats today.

Ugly, but good road win for the Cats.

The refs called Morris like they did last year, IMO. I've always thought the officials were hard on Morris until this year. For the most part he's been allowed to play, but the 4th foul today was insane. That ref needs to sit a game.

Solid defensive contributions from Woo and Sheray. Good to see.. hopefully Sheray was just a little slow returning from his suspension.

I thought the guards did a poor job of getting the ball down low. They seem to have a lack of confidence in anyone besides Morris.

Freshmen played very well overall, it will be great to see them mature. Jasper seemed to really use his size to his advantage.

Bottom line...Can't win shooting 27%, and only making two field goals in the last 10:40...

It's just ridiculous to miss that many open shots...Officiating was poor at best BOTH ways....Still dont think either team is very good at all....

Hey UKMustang...Still think Padgett is soft? ;)

. The Frosh were big today as was Woo.

Even Jasper??

He played quite well today, Pitino definitely didn't utilize him the right way, but to answer your question, yes.

He played well today, but one game doesn't make up for the entire body of work. If he continues to play the way he did today, then my opinion will change, but as for now I'm still skeptical.
