December 16, 200619 yr I didn't get to see the game due to work but appearently my Cards can't shoot the ball. This doesn't shock me, nor does it bode well for our team, bad shooting teams don't do well. Hopefully this is the lowpoint of the season, there is time to pull ourselves up in conference play and make a run for the tournament, however looking like they do, I think this is less likely than not. That all it's going to take is these guys to start hitting some shots and Im sure it's going to happen Im just glad there waiting to start doing the next game. Pitino is a great coach! criticism will be his motivation! Watch out!
December 16, 200619 yr That's the part I liked most...I believe he made all of his free throws...[/quote/ I think I heard he had missed two.Like 8 for 10 or 10 for 12.
December 16, 200619 yr Padge was 8/10 from the line, 4/4 from the floor, 10 reb, and 3 blocks. 10 reb,3 blocks.I don't see that a being soft!
December 16, 200619 yr Too bad I was sitting on that baseline, and it was off Woo's foot... Sure didn't look like it on the replay. I am surprised that any UL fans would be getting excited about Padgett's play against Orbzut. If he did what he did today against Morris, you might have something to get excited.
December 16, 200619 yr Sure didn't look like it on the replay. I am surprised that any UL fans would be getting excited about Padgett's play against Orbzut. If he did what he did today against Morris, you might have something to get excited. It isn't his fault that Morris kept reaching in on him. And Padgett got his first and more against Morris too.
December 17, 200619 yr It's difficult to trap a 6'5''+ point guard when he can just throw it over the top. The trap was effective, but whoever was in the middle of the press did a very poor job. Louisville did not rotate well at all. Regarding Louisville's shooting woes. You can credit Kentucky's D all you want, but when the Cards are getting wide open looks is that really the defense? Simply put, Louisville stunk today & Kentucky benefitted. Had the Cards shot the ball a little bit better (or even had 1 guy shoot well), then I feel like this board could have a much different tone. And that's what makes me nervous. I liked the Cats D today...They were very agressive on the perimeter and were causing alot of quick shots...UL did a very good job with ball movement to get the open looks but the Cats were adjusting the shots because of there aggressiveness...Granted, had UL shot the ball better it could have been a different story, but, you could also say, had Morris, Perry and Crawford had normal games, it could have been alot worse too...
December 17, 200619 yr Actually there is one worse than that. I remember him comparing Jared Prickett to a young Larry Bird... I thought that was Al McGuier who made the comparison. I could be wrtong though.
December 17, 200619 yr Porter did do a great Job at point today and I think he is only going to get better. Kentucky didn't shoot the lights out either,Meeks save the day from outside! Porter and Meeks both impressed me. Porter reminds me a lot of a young Cameron Mills/Jeff shepard type of player and Meeks reminds me a lot of Tony Delk. I like Meeks if he stays for 4 years (knock on wood) I think he will blossum into a heck of a ball player.
December 17, 200619 yr Good win for the Cats in a sloppy game for both teams. The officiating was horrible, ... both ways. Morris had 2 horrible calls against him, but the officiating was a wash to me, ... both teams got hosed.
December 17, 200619 yr Even Jasper?? ????? I thought Jasper played pretty well. As for the refereeing, I thought it was bad both ways. It really hurt UK, because it took Morris out of the game. Sometimes the refs would call touch fouls and sometimes theyd let players away with murder. One time in the 1st half, Woo tore, I believe, Caracter's arm off and there was no call.
December 17, 200619 yr I was thrilled to win but remember the quote in the "Sparks game" two years ago: This game is not a season maker or breaker for either teams. In 97-98 we lost to UL and won the NCAA and they gave an example of Ky losing to Louisville and they went on to glory. That 2005 season we won and then UL went to the final four and we missed it by a rebound in double OT. I'm just glad both teams play each other now because in the past they did not regularly until the early to mid 80s. I'm also glad its over until next year unless we meet in post season.
December 17, 200619 yr It isn't his fault that Morris kept reaching in on him. yeah.. from 5 feet away. The officiating was horrid both ways, but at least half of Morris' fouls were bogus.
December 17, 200619 yr Always great to see the Wildcats hang a big "L" on Pitino and the Cards. Imo Meeks really stepped up today along with Orbzut. Refs wouldn't let Morris play and kept him out of the game or imo it would had been a much larger victory. Officiating was terrible BOTH ways, effected both teams. I hate to see the refs try to make the game about them instead of the players.:irked: S. Thomas looked today I thought along with Porter. This U.K. team will only get better. These freshmen are VERY good and I look for big things out of them before this season and their time at U.K. is done. Series record is now U.K. 26 / U.L. 12, the Tubby vs. Rick (at Louisville) is now 4-2 Tubby I believe. GO BIG BLUE, Great Win!!!!:dancingpa :dancingpa :dancingpa :flame: :flame:
