December 17, 200619 yr Cats showed today that they can win without Morris and Crawford having to score all the points. That is a really good sign. :thumb: I agree, these feshmen are getting more and more accustomed to D1 basketball and to Tubby's system. Jasper is looking very good at the point, Meeks really broke out in a big way vs. U.L. and Porter is steady, just a good basketball player. Imo tis win over U.L. real do wonders for the confidence and that they can win with the best players not contributing all that much. Going into the SEC phase of the schedule this win will do nothing but boost confidence in a young team.
December 17, 200619 yr Author :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: True, but UK did a nice job stopping dribble penetration, which has been a problem early int eh year but getting better. People seem to forget, that UL is not that good of a shooting team. They were 3-15 against UMass, and bad yesterday. I guess you hae to say the efense was decent to an extent that it took away drives to the basket and forced UL to make open 3's which they haven't done this year.

You're right...They're not that great of a shooting team...But most people would think that guys playing D-1 college basketball would be able to hit more than three 3's with the kind of looks they were getting...

The same thing happened to UK vs. UNC. We played well, but couldnt throw it in the ocean. It is a combination of good defense and poor shooting. Palacios and Terrence Williams take way too many 3s. UL could be a lot better if they would go to the rack. Also some people were talking about after the Derby Classic how much better Sosa was than Jasper and Meeks. I think we can pretty well put that to rest now.
December 18, 200619 yr :ylsuper: GO BIG BLUE! Meeks had a huge game, hopefully it is the first of many. Woo played some impressive minutes, and it is a good sign when neither Perry or Morris have a field goal, and we still win going away. I realize U of L is not as good as normal, but I still think this Kentucky team has the potential to be a very good basketball team. Good win for the Cats.

This goes back to maybe my theory that Tubby's scouting report/game plan wa stop the dribble/drive - keep the ball out of the middle and let them shoot it from outside untill they proved they could hit them. Just a possibily, I don't know.

I've been thinking that for the last few years, watching UK on offense.
December 18, 200619 yr Im a little late to join in on anything that really hasnt been said. But I think a large part to the reason that they was no rythm was the refs. It is hard to get in a flow with a game called like that. Uk and Louisville both had some ridiculous calls against them. They werent trying to cheat anyone but they were just bad and limited the flow of the game.
December 18, 200619 yr By the way Im not one to complain much about refs. They make mistakes they are only human, but they turned what could have been a good game today into something ugly. Maybe they had a off day or something I dont know. Neither team is great though but they do have potential.
December 18, 200619 yr Well I been gone and haven't been able to post lately, but first of all this an ugly game, but still a good win for U.K.
December 18, 200619 yr 49 points for the Great Pitino? Wow thats hard to believe, because I mean with the way some of you all talk on here Pitino teams always score alot of points and is just fun to watch. But the game I watched today it sure wasn't fun to watch... Lets see that now makes is 3 in a row for the guy people want fired in Tubby, over Pitino who people cant seem to get over being here still...
December 18, 200619 yr I see alot of people saying Woo should get more playing time, but you all got to remember he played a great game against UL last year too, and then didn't do anything else the rest of the year. For some reason he just matches up good against UL, and that is a bad sign for where the UL program is when Woo usually always plays good against them...So I know I want to see Woo do these same things in other games, before we go and start playing him more...
December 18, 200619 yr Meeks/Jasper/Stevenson and (hssrb) Porter are probably the future franchise not second level players. Are you starting to finally come around now, and think that Porter should be here...
