Clay Clevenger has been let go.

Danville coach was let go earlier today.

Just got word that Danville has let Coach Clevenger go and is now an open job.  He let the team know about an hour or so ago.

It’s no secret that his relationship with the administration has been tumultuous to say the least.  It’s unfortunate that someone who has had such a positive effect on the community is let go because of relationship issues with the powers that be.  To say that Coach Clevenger is loved by his players, their parents and alumni is an understatement.  He turned Danville football around when people thought the program was done.  He won a state title and restored order in a proud program.

Good luck to Coach Clevenger in his future endeavors.  I doubt he will be unemployed long.

Any reason given?

On and off the field, Coach Clevenger did a tremendous job with, and for, the kids that played football at Danville HS. His work with the KY Football Coaches Association as our President was exceptional... especially in establishing the Mr. Football Award. Great things ahead for him & his family!

Seems like to wait this long the administration has someone in mind for the position. I could be wrong but time will tell.

I was thinking the same thing.

He was told they want to go in a different direction.

Heard that there was problems after the administration cut his coaches.

Which means we have someone else in mind to coach the team.

Well there is a team up in the Northern part of the state looking for a Coach.

Heard very good things about Coach Clevenger.  He will not be out of work for long!!

Whoever takes over this Danville program will have a very hungry and talented team.  If I remember right, most key players were sophomores.  Interesting that a coach is let go with such a bright future ahead.

Unbelievable, I think in the long run this will turn out to be a very bad decision.

This is total bologna.  That's about all I have to say about it now, other than I thank Clevenger for his years of service and getting the team back in the title hunt.  I hope he gets the Highlands job and wrecks it.

I agree. Very bad decision. I've talk to Coach Clevenger multiple time over the last couple of years. Very knowledgeable about football, allows gets the most out of his players, and his players love him. I wish him the best of luck and think he has to be one of the top coaches looking for a job.
