Is it time for Calipari to go?

So that's a no then, I didn't mention this year's team.  I didn't think I did.  I refuted your claim that they had bad seasons with Payne on staff.  They would have been a tournament team every season had Noel not been injured.  My post was discussing Payne's impact--PERIOD. You chose to branch off on your own tangent about this year's team.

So you know for a fact that the 2013 team that was flawed with and without Noel would win the games after he got hurt and still make the tournament? Interesting that you know that for sure.

Im also pretty sure you didn’t have to mention this years team in this thread, for me to bring it up. It’s honestly funny to see your reaction to this.  Especially considering multiple threads where you decided to mock fans on here, who have said previously that Cal gets his teams playing their best in March. You didn’t seem to have any problem openly mocking those post in threads of games UK lost this year. Even though no one had said that, in that exact thread. So is it only allowed to bring up previous comments in a thread, when it fits your agenda?

So I just find it interesting, that you are good with using the injury excuse for 2013 when Payne was here. Yet haven’t really seen you use that or other things at all for this years and it’s struggles? It’s kind of like you only pick and choose what you want to use to fit your narrative. So I just found that interesting.

That's how discussion boards work.  Hell, @futurecoachis one of the best at tying discussions together to formulate dialogue about people's opinions and this is the response you give him?  Yes, you didn't say anything about this year's team in the post about Payne.

So, now, are you going to answer his question? Cause it's a decent one and its pretty related to this thread.

As for the 2012-2013 year, I think many often want to hang that year over Cal's head when they should because of what you outlined.

Thanks. I just think it is interesting that the people who like to discredit Cal almost every step of the way. Would use the injury excuse for that season since Payne was here. Yet none of them really want to mention that as playing some role in this years team. People act like Cal has only been successful in his career because of Payne. I’m pretty sure Cal did pretty well for himself in Memphis and Umass without Payne. So well that he landed the UK job without ever having Payne with him.

Payne is a great coach, and no doubt one of the top assistants in basketball and needs to be a Head Coach one day and soon! With that said, some people seem to want to act Cal only had success because of him. Cal was having success before UK and before Payne. So if people want to use the injury excuse for 2013 when Payne was here. Then cant turn around and act like all the things I mentioned didn’t play a big role for this years team failing, and probably even a bigger role than Payne not being here.

I’m more of a football guy but OSU and Texas are both top 10 nationally right now.  They only socially care about basketball at OSU.

True, there seems to be a lot of teams this year who may not traditionally be known as good bball schools. Who are doing well this year, while teams who are traditionally known for Bball that are struggling this year more than normal like UK, Duke, UNC, Kansas, Michigan State. 2020 craziness has carried over to the 2020/2021 college hoops season.

RE: Records against "top 25 teams" (a flawed stat because the top 25 means little when you have situations like Kansas beating UK earlier this year as a 'ranked' team), I saw a stat last night that UNC has lost nine straight games against top 25 competition. That stat lacks context, but again, misery loves company. Also important to note UNC was real bad last year and got bailed out of their under .500 season because of COVID.

Cal is a players first Coach but for whatever reason continues to throw Dontae under the bus in post game pressers. If Allen decides to transfer and rumors are flying that he is seriously considering it, Cal will not survive next season unless it’s one of his greatest.  I’m past ready for him too leave.

What did he say in last night's post game presser?

KSR said today he threw Allen under the bus on his + - while on the court.  Allen is the only kid he takes shots at. It’s getting ridiculous.

He basically said the team shot 60% in the second half and made some stops.  Said he simply went with what was working.  Cited Missouri going right after Dontaie in the first half (which is 100% true).  Said Dontaie is liable to get 25-30 minutes the next game.

I didn't see anything about plus-minus , but Drew Franklin said Dontaie had a -8 in the first half.

Unequivocally false.

Sounds like Missouri was attacking Dontaie and Cal was answering why he wasn't getting playing time in the second half?

Chris Holtmann The Ohio State Head Coach Big South, Big East, Big Ten Coach of the year and grew up a KY fan from Nicholasville Ky would be a Homerun hire to take over for Cal.

Yes.

Which is sad, both programs have put some better than decent quality basketball on the court for a decade or more to not be appreciated by the fan base.  Even when UK football was an absolute turd, we still looked forward to the season and attended games.  OK, true after blowout losses we consoled ourselves in Bourbon and thoughts of the upcoming basketball season, but dang it we still cared about football also.

I wouldn't take him over Calipari, but if Calipari decides to leave, Holtmann would probably be on the top of my list.
