Maybe where you live. Mask enforcement has been top notch in Louisville since it began. But to your point, a lot of people still want to be "that guy" and not wear one in places, only too look like a fool.

I was just in Pikeville over the weekend. You would think Covid never happened. Not a single person in the hotel I stayed in (workers or guests) wore masks. And while I was out and about, those who were masked were the minority.

Same. Everywhere I go in NKY, masks are the norm.

Again, not surprising at all.

Newest guidance from the CDC about those individuals who are fully vaccinated (two weeks post last dose):

  • Visit with other fully vaccinated people indoors without wearing masks or staying 6 feet apart.
  • Visit with unvaccinated people from one other household indoors without wearing masks or staying 6 feet apart if everyone in the other household is at low risk for severe disease.
  • Refrain from quarantine and testing if they do not have symptoms of COVID-19 after contact with someone who has COVID-19.

This is much more in line with common sense. The CDC has to naturally be more conservative in their guidance, but this is basically saying if you are vaccinated, you are good to go. Which is how it should be.

This is a good start and great news for grandparents everywhere.

We are getting there. IMO this should be a huge green light for everyone to get the vaccine as fast as possible.

I read the full report yesterday beyond the points you made previously.  It is lengthy and confusing to say the least.  Currently, if the situation varies at all from that, keep doing what you are doing.  Meaning, keep wearing masks.  Examples of variables include being with people not yet vaccinated or from more than one household.  I like the small steps, but I am personally impatient.  I think the "smart people" are still trying to figure this all out.

I didn't find it confusing at all. We are making baby steps, there's no way for anyone to have it figured out at this point.

As @bugatti pointed out, there is a common sense factor involved. If everyone in the group is fully vaccinated, you're fine to congregate as normal in small groups. Otherwise, keep doing what we've been doing over the last year.

I think it is different here in Louisville than it is a lot of places in KY. My girlfriend is from NKY and she's told me on her trips home, people don't wear masks in NKY like they do here.

I live in NKY.  I would say most regular businesses are compliant.  My favorite watering hole however, is not...but it is a bar.

For the most part, every where I go people are wearing masks. I continue to wear one indoors and outdoors in large crowds. I have never and will never require people to wear one around me. However, many people at work, and in my side business, put one on when I have to work directly with them.

From what I am seeing, more people are going without masks. Now is not the time to jump the gun. Too many people still unvaccinated. Remember, the mask wearing is more about preventing you from spreading the virus. Even if you are fully vaccinated you should keep wearing the mask so you don't spread the vaccine to some who isn't vaccinated.

The people I see not wearing masks seem to have that guilty look about them. Either they are self conscious about not wearing it or they are hoping someone will confront them about it. They seem to be looking over their shoulder.

Correcting typo in post above.

All restrictions in Kentucky are being lifted on June 11th.

June 2nd in Ohio and I just read a news report saying that date may be revised and the restrictions may be lifted before June 2nd.

It is going to be a party summer!
