I know of at least one Fortune 500 size company that had a mask required policy in place for the last couple months. There were a large number of employees who got COVID (mostly from travel) that caused them to go back to masks required. They are now dropping it in Monday.

If people want to virtue signal by wearing a mask where no one else is, I appreciate the entertainment.

Yeah, God forbid someone wears a mask because they either A. Want to be extra cautious or B. Should based on their health.

Great source of entertainment.

Extra cautious from what?  Them spreading it?  1 person wearing a mask isn't doing anything.

Extra cautious so that they don’t contract or spread it. You all can deny it until you’re blue in the face, masking helps mitigate spread.

If you’re going to make fun of someone wearing a mask, that says way more about you than them.

To that I say you all can deny it until you're blue in the face, masking is useless.  One study from the NCIB had the following to say, “This study is the first RCT of cloth masks, and the results caution against the use of cloth masks…. Moisture retention, reuse of cloth masks and poor filtration may result in increased risk of infection.”

On people still wearing masks, for them I assume it is a psychological booster and like I have always said if you want to wear a mask, more power to you.

The problem is when we (or worse, children) are forced to wear masks with no scientific or legal basis.  Additionally, JCPS forcing this on their students is just one more reason (as if we need anymore reasons) for parents and students to get out of JCPS and never look back.

Here is a good reference link if anyone wants to read more about masking:

https://www.maskscience.org/

MaskScience.org links to 42 high-impact, peer-reviewed studies illustrating why masks fail to curb or reduce the community spread of Covid-19 or other contagious viruses, the negative effects of masking, and the adverse effects on children. This site includes links to numerous randomized clinical trials (RCTs) that evaluated the effects of masking on the airborne transmission of pathogens, including SARS-CoV-2. RCTs are the “gold standard” for measuring the effectiveness of an intervention. Several observational studies are not included on this site for the reasons well articulated in the August 2021 meta-analysis, Do Masks Work? This site is an actively maintained project. New studies are added as they become available. Suggestions are welcome by email. Help spread the word about this site.

I have not looked at any sites or links, so I ask - are all these studies about cloth masks?

No, there is a multitude of studies at that link and it is a good read because on the front page (the link I listed above) they give the bottom line from all the studies.  But if you are thinking N95 type masks work, think again...

“Consistent use of a face mask or respirator in indoor public settings was associated with lower odds of a positive SARS-CoV-2 test result (adjusted odds ratio = 0.44). Use of respirators with higher filtration capacity was associated with the most protection, compared with no mask use.“

It makes no sense to me that health care offices of every kind and size require masks if they have no use. Dr's and nurses go into surgery wearing masks. Why?

I am just the messenger here VoR, masks don't work against COVID and other viruses.

And generally speaking, sometimes we all do things because we have always done it that way.

I don't believe anything the CDC ever has to say about anything and the fact that this came from California makes me believe it even less if that is possible.

Seriously, go to the mask science link I provided instead of CDC/Cali Junk Science.
