Its interesting, but not surprising, that those of us over 60, because of our experience and up-bringing are the ones who are still trying to live a normal life, and its the younger generation, who are not the endangered species here, who are barricading themselves behind closed doors, and drinking the "stop living your lives" cool-aid.

 

Probably because we actually care about doing our best to take care of the older generation. If I somehow got this thing and gave it to my 83 year old father and he died because of it, I'd have a really hard time forgiving myself.

It's funny how old timers talk about how bad we (Millennials) are, yet most of us are trying to keep them alive by doing what we're told.

No lines, excellent service, hot food, no hassle.

Alas, this too came to an end at 5pm on Monday.

 

 

In my travels I passed the Longneck saloon/restaurant in Wilder. Overflow crowd parking in the empty chili parlor lot next door.

 

I'll bet those good ole boys are none too happy about this shutdown.

I'm on the verge of hooking my boat to the truck and heading to Counce, Tennessee where those rednecks are still sitting in the shadow of their confederate flags eating bar-b-que, oblivious to the happenings in urban America, and doing a couple of weeks of fishing until this imposed lunacy has run its course.

 

If I catch this disease and it kills me, it's on me, or maybe I'll fall out of the boat and die in that manner that would be on me too. But, I will have certainly done either on my own terms.

 

We're quite literally trying not to kill you. Or my dad with respiratory issues. Or my wife with a compromised immune system due to her battle with cancer. I'd greatly appreciate you do the same, for concern over not if but when the testing catches up and we find out how many people you infected because you don't seem to value life on the same level as many of the rest of us.

 

Here's a question. What if you catch the virus and it doesn't kill you, but you are the reason it kills my dad? Or my wife? Can I tell you then what I think of "your terms"?

The thing is, we might look back in 6 months and say we all over-reacted. That’s the hope.

 

What if we look back in 6 months and see that the behaviors you’re exhibiting furthered the spread, causing more people to get sick, potentially causing people to die. How many people are you okay with dying?

 

What if everyone in the US had the same attitude as you? Surely that would cause Covid 19 to spread rapidly, inevitably leading to people dying.

 

Everyone sensible is in agreement that social distancing is prudent. You aren’t more wise than those telling us that it’s a good idea.

 

Plus you’re old with pre-existing conditions. You’re more at risk than most.

I simply don't understand the present day logic of shutting down the world, just in case, and inducing a national panic among our citizens, which we are very much in the midst of, making the effect much more serious than the cause.

That’s a really selfish take. As others have mentioned, it’s not just about protecting you from yourself. It’s about protecting everyone from everyone. This is much bigger than just you, and I’m amazed that despite all of the information that’s now out there, that there are so many people like yourself that’s still calling this a big over reaction. The world is being shut down to save lives. I’m not sure how or why some could choose to view that in any other way.
