Kentucky 67 Ole Miss 62

Final Cats survive a poor shooting day for the win. Cats very fortunate to come away with the win today.

Was that the worse game winning shot attempt in CBB history lol?

An ugly win is still a win - beats the heck out of a pretty loss.

UK has a team that can beat anyone and can make a run in the tournament to win it all. Unfortunately this may be the first year where the first game of the tournament will worry me some. UK hasn’t learned yet to just pound the teams they are suppose to. So the first round game this year could be a little bit more nerve wrecking than normal.

Especially when that shot wasn’t even taken by Ole Miss best player.

You got that right!

Sadly, that is the typical game winning shot attempt in today's college basketball. It drives me crazy. Dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble, shoot 3 pointer. That is the end of game play, game after game in college basketball.

While UK went 2-22 from deep, all but a couple of those, I thought, were good shots. I’d say half were uncontested. Ole Miss gambled that UK would shoot poorly, and they did. Trying to enter inside the arc Ole Miss played it stout, can’t argue that.

The achilles heel for this UK team is interior strength and rebounding. These SEC teams with strong interior players are trouble for UK. A big factor in this win was Montgomery finally stepped up at the end and played strong battling inside.

Pay those coaches a ton of money to get that look.

A cynic would call that AAU mentality.

Well I really expected them to come out and put together a solid game against a not very good or well coached Ole Miss team.

UK is struggling against big strong players on the inside. Also, the guards seem to make great plays defensively or get beat to the rim. Not much in between. But they keep winning which is much more than most teams around the country can say. If they keep up the free throw shooting they can make a good run.

One huge positive of the day - both LSU and Auburn looked awful in taking losses, leaving Kentucky alone in first in the SEC. They need to get the win on the road at LSU this week to consolidate that, and if they can do that, I like their chances of going in as the 1 for conference tournament.

With the up-and-down nature of college basketball this season, it feels like a 1-seed in the SEC tournament might be good enough for a 3-seed in the NCAA tournament.

Just watched the game this morning. So many wide open looks, especially in the first half, from deep and they just couldn't hit them.

Good job not turning the ball over though. That's a big positive.

I can only afford one more loss on my over/under bet. Hopefully they play real well on Tuesday.
