I think Coach Tressel showed class by not voting. Anyone with something to gain or lose through the process should recuse themselves. The system stinks, but it isn't Tressel's fault.

That's where I got the idea for this poll. I know there are several OSU fans that read and post here and I would love to hear their spin on this. IMVHO by doing this Tressel should now be ineligible to vote in the coaches poll permanantly.

Maybe that is what he is trying to get accomplished. He may feel that the coaches (should not) vote and if he sits one out others may follow. Therefore , they take the voting away from them and they(the coaches) accomplish what they set out to do. Who knows?

Is it written in stone that he must vote? If so, I agree he should have but if there is not something written that says a coach must cast a vote then he has a right to choose to vote or not vote. At least he had enough guts to make the decision and not be persuaded by others. The greatest thing is that he never said he voted for it before he voted against it!!!(LOL)

It is his responsibility and this is why the coaches poll is a sham..but it decides part of college football's title.

If it was his team trying to get in, I gurantee he would have voted...Thats why I say yes.

Yes he should have voted, the coaches voting is a joke to begin with but not voting is a bigger joke.

:thumb: :thumb: I agree 100%. Tressell not voting did not show any disrespect to me at all. Now, if it was a rule that he should vote the he was in the wrong but hat is not the case. Tressell shouldn't be put on trial so to speak for not voting. JMO. Imo a lot of what this is all about is that everyone wants to take a shot a the guys on top whenever they can.

Okay, I'm not looking to take a shot at anybody, on top or otherwise. But are you implying that if you are a COACH and are on the committee that votes EVERY WEEK for the COACHES' POLL, you need a rule saying you need to vote? No one has ever abstained...ever. How come no one ever needed said rule earlier? I think it's fair to say that if you are a Coach with a vote in the Coaches' Poll it is expected that you cast one. Do we really need more rules?

:thumb: That is fine and I respect your opinion, mine just differs from yours, thats all. Imo is that another thing this is may be about (and maybe I am wrong) is that this game will not be played untill a little over a month and the media has to (in their mind) pick up on anything they can and run with it for a story. We will probably hear more "stuff" about both sides/teams before this game is played.

It's a no win situation I think. I respect him feeling like he has a conflict of interest. If he votes one way then the other gets in then it looks like he is trying to dodge them and could work on the psyche of his team. If he votes one way and that team gets in then it looks like he is trying to dodge the team that didn't get in.

No win!

I want to vote "I dont care" but it isnt an option.
