3A State Championship: Covington Catholic 27 Bowling Green 8

That's pretty much what Cov-Cath radio was saying the whole night during the game. Why would They bring something like that up during CCH's big day unless there is some truth to it. As the Bandit would say, Bye Bye Baby!!!!!!!!

I listened to the entire game on CovCath Internet Radio and Mark Wehry and Jason Elfers never said ANYTHING about Rodenberg bolting back to Cincinnati. Who said this?

CovCath wins sixth title

BY RYAN ERNST | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER

LOUISVILLE – As the seconds ticked away in the Class AAA state football final, the public address announcer at Papa John’s Stadium reminded the Covington Catholic student section that fans were not allowed on the playing surface.

But the students, like their team, would not be denied.

The Colonels and their fans met on the turf to celebrate the school’s sixth state title after a dominant 27-8 victory over Bowling Green on Friday night. CovCath upped its record to 6-0 in state championship games.

“We just come together at the right time,” said CovCath senior quarterback Josh Bleser. “And once we’re up we just stay up. We’ve got all the heart in the world.”

Nice job Colonels!

Congrats Colonels. I wasn't really surprised by the outcome, no offense Purple fans. BG had a nice team ( I was able to watch them in 3 games), with some special players, but top to bottom CovCath's personnel simply was better. Congrats to both teams and their coaches.

I was ask not to comment about this in this thread.

Well do tell.

Congrats to Popham who was able to break the state record for # of FGs in a season tonight.

Thanks for posting that! I was just getting ready to go back thru the update thread to see if he got it. Congratulations CCH on a great season and a much deserved title. Good luck to the seniors as you move on.

Way to go Colonels!!! Let's hope we can get the program rolling again and let's not wait so long to win a State Title. Congrats to all the seniors!!

A sign of a dominant team is when the outcome is decided early. The only question was would BG score.

His stats won't look good if you didn't see him but the BG qb is really good.

Highlight of the night was watching Kater rumble to the goal line with the fumble and then show his athletic ability by getting the ball inside the pylon. Outstanding.

I wish there was a better place to host the games. A stadium like Nippert would be perfect. PJ's is just too big for high school games.

Outstanding, exceptional, terrific, wonderful, stupendous, dazzling, marvelous, excellent, GREAT – all appropriate in describing Covington Catholic Colonels 2006 season.

What a special accomplishment for the CCH players, coaches, students, faculty and administration.

Last night after the congratulatory hugs, handshakes, awards and team celebration, I watched with Colonels pray together before they left the field for the bus ride home. I happened to hear all the way up in the second level of the stadium. The Colonels all closed the prayer after giving Thanks with “Great Run” and that it’s been for this very special group of young men.

These seniors were undefeated as freshman and now go out 12-3, Undefeated in Kentucky and STATE CHAMPIONS.

Just Awesome!

:dancingpa - in Park Hills on Monday morning !!

I'm sure if I searched my previous posts, I'd find one from the pre-season expressing concern about the O-line. Even early in the season,I thought there was concern. However, they figured it out and were largely responsible for the championship run. Excellent work by a unit.

BTW, the TD from Bleser to Bo was a thing of beauty. Josh put it right where it had to be against the zone defense and Bo went up and made the play. Best play of the night.
