I knew Ryle was going to get beat.......Like I said in my other post about this game. Ryle doesn't have enough of a passing game and they can't defend the pass very well. I saw the stats and that pretty much sums it up......Until these teams in NKY 4A get a more rounded attack the results are going to stay the same.........

Maybe they had an off night last night, but I don't think Ryle has much of a running game either. Very, very slow. The power I game doesn't work against good teams.

^ It would work against a lot....just not a bunch down here. You see, in Louisville, with having the Big III the bar has been raised. The likes of Ballard, PRP, Fern Creek, etc...have to make their games more contemporary of they are going to get beat 70-7 :sssh:

I was not supprised by T's team speed, but I was supprised by your team strength. We never had a problem moving people off the ball on O or D until last night. Great team effort.

 

I hate when posters on BGP call posts out as "bulletin board material" but I saw it happen this week. Our kids were bombarded with comments about how Ryle was "physical" and they were "finesse" (I must admit I did my share of the taunting). A number of kids referenced posts on BGP that they thought were disrespectful and it motivated them. Ryle's #2 was a marked man, he was not going to be allowed to beat them. Couple this with a number of quotes from the NKY papers and the Rocks came out with something to prove. Add in a healthy dose of scouting and preparation by the best coaching staff in the state (IMO) and it turned out to be all Rocks. Congrats to Ryle, if it helps any I saw a really similar game back in 2000 when the Rocks were on the short end. Trinity seems to have rebounded quite nicely.:thumb:

In the last couple of years our OFFENSIVE style of play has lead some people to question our physicality....I thought last year's final would've hushed those sentiments, then came this year's X game, much of the same, albeit a shorter game....last night's game was no different. Just because we spread the ball out over the entire field, does not mean that we won't hit you in the mouth.

Congrats on #17 Rocks, their final 4A title. The football program represents the school so well, in many ways :thumb:

 

Great effort this year by Ryle, they definitely have an opportunity to build on some success there & work towards a 6A title.

Hmmm, we could be talking about Boone Co c. 1986 - 1994 as well. Until a state at large team develops the pass and run, the Big 3 will not get beat as state at large teams are not going to out athlete the Big 3.

They are welcome at my table. I never put much stock in that kind of motivation in the past but I saw it happen this week. Even otherwise mild mannered coaches took offense. The boys took it as a challenge to their manhood.

The only team Ryle played as strong as they were was Glen Este and Ryle got beat in that one as well. For the most part they used the run to set up the pass, not the other way around. When playing a team that could stop the run, Ryle was going to struggle.

Ryle played hard and their fans were great. But let's be honest: Male, Henry Clay and Ballard all gave the Rocks a better game. All of the pre-game "Smash mouth vs. finesse" stuff went right out the window. Trinity hit harder and executed a LOT better. And the only sure fire D1 player T has (as I understand it) is their kicker. I think they've earned everything they've gotten.

And on a side note: Did the team that beat Trinity win the state title in Tennessee?

 

No...MBA ended the year with a 7-4 or 6-5 record, but, keep in mind, they are playing in class 3a, division 2 in Tn, which is nothing but the big privates out of Memphis, Nashville and Knoxville areas....

As for the comments on Ryle's "Boone County" oriented offense- it's interesting that the 3 Ryle coaches calling plays on offense were from Boone County. The "stone age" offense didn't work back then & it killed us last night. We put all of our eggs in one basket (player) & it cost us the game. Too bad for the Ryle players who deserved a better fate. Don't misunderstand me, Trinity is a great team but it would have been nice to see a more competitive game. We had the ability to make it a closer game but for some reason we chose not to use it. Congrats Trinity! Great season Raiders! Hopefully our coaches will attend some clinics in the offseason so our schemes can be updated. Leave the past where it belongs- in the past!!

As pointed out in the pregame thread, Ryle had trouble with Dixie's passing scheme. That did not bode well going into the Trinity game. As was noted in the game thread, you can't be one dimensional and expect to wint a 4A title. I think 3A is pretty much that way and it will continue to work it ways down the class sizes as football continues to improves in Kentucky.

 

I agree with your post, particularly the bolded part. I don't care how well you do one component of your offense, if you can't do both of them well, its simply a matter of time before you lose. Ryle got pretty far this year and had a great season. Nothing for the players or coaches to feel bad about. The key will be drawing on this year's success, and equally important learning from the mistakes made, to move the program forward. I've got a gut feeling the Ryle coaches and players will do so and have a feeling that next year Ryle will run a more balanced offense. This won't be the last the state hears about Ryle. Good job boys and coaches.

 

Congrats also to Trinity. Hate you guys having more titles than us, but if we are going to have to be second (at least for one year:laugh:), there's not a finer program to be second to. Hope we can tie it up next year. By the way, in my opinion, every coach in every program in Ky. could learn a lot from studying the Trinity way.

I think it happens much, much more than a lot of us want to admit. Athletes on the high school level are easily motivated by the so called "bulletin board" material. I think athletes react to such stuff less and less as the athletes move into college and the pro's, but it still happens there. I hope posters remember your above post next year before they type more "bulletin board" material.
