It is the first time all year that we have stayed completely in Cover 3...when our DB coverage is clearly our worst part of our defense.

I have felt for years that somewhere, sometime, somone would come along and absolutely jack Male's defense up. Enter Beatty. I think you do have to learn from losses but I agree that there are times when a coach might want to stop and think.

You are 100% right, we got blasted by Male in 2000, trying to get the edge on them, and beat them deep one on one.....2001, 2002, and 2006 we changed it up, and the rest is history...

 

People also need to realize that you can actually still be a physical running team and spread the field out. THe point of having multiple formations, imo, is to give your team the best advantage against an opponent and sometimes, putting 7 to 8 guys on the line of scrimmage to run the ball doesnt necessarily do it. But if you are able to spread them out more and get most of the defense away from the box, then you can still run the ball well. Heck, Florida does this pretty well. So does West Virginia. I hope teams like Ryle learn from these types of games. You dont need 100 different plays when you can run 20 out of 100 different formations that gives you the best opportunity to have success against a defense. And vice versa on defense.

 

When I watched last night, a couple of the guys that I was with, and I, were talking that if they spread us out, leaving only 6-7 in the box, and used misdirection, it would be so much more difficult to stop, being that they have two great RB's

Congrats to T on the win. They were very impressive. Everytime (no matter what year) I watch Trinity, I walk away thinking that they shouldn't have won by that much. I guess at some point they just create those 'breaks' for themselves. DD is right... 3rd and long and short fields killed Ryle's D, who I didn't think played too bad (I left at 27-0 though).

 

Just curious... why was the flag picked up on T's first TD? That was HUGE.

Maybe you are the one that won't see. How do you explain tiny little Highlands beating NKY4A schools on a regular basis? Or Beechwood for that matter. You guys have to look inward and try to solve your issues. I have been preahing for a couple of years now that NKY4A is too one-dimensional. I stated this week, what happens if the Rocks shut down Murray? What is plan B? Well we found out tonight. I knew if an NKY4A team couldn't win with Alexander, then they most likely couldn't win. Newsflash, Male would have had a similar result against Ryle.

I mean I think the kids are respected throughout 4a and most people would agree that they kids have huge hearts. But they could also make the argument that Ryle didnt beat a top 10 team to make it to the state championship?!?!?! They had a great year dont get me wrong and they play hard and they deserved to be playing last night because they won the games they were given but they never really were tested to prove that they were a great team by beating teams that were below average in most areas of the state.

IMO this was a very talented ryle team, The most talented I have seen at Ryle, but the coaching has got to improve, you cant expect to beat great teams not throwing the ball! Just my opinon though! Beinke has a nice arm, but wasnt really used much this year! Maybe it is in this coachs ego to be a running team. Warner is seems excellent at gettin the most out of his kids and inspiring them, but you cant beat quality teams being 1 dimensional.

If a great team with Shaun Alexander cant do it, then no from NKY is going to be able too.

I would also like to say that the Ryle fans stood up and cheered for their team till the very end in the rain. Much to be said about the passion you have for your program. Good luck in the future.
