As for the comments on Ryle's "Boone County" oriented offense- it's interesting that the 3 Ryle coaches calling plays on offense were from Boone County. The "stone age" offense didn't work back then & it killed us last night. We put all of our eggs in one basket (player) & it cost us the game. Too bad for the Ryle players who deserved a better fate. Don't misunderstand me, Trinity is a great team but it would have been nice to see a more competitive game. We had the ability to make it a closer game but for some reason we chose not to use it. Congrats Trinity! Great season Raiders! Hopefully our coaches will attend some clinics in the offseason so our schemes can be updated. Leave the past where it belongs- in the past!!

 

 

How could they have made this a better game? Your best players are running backs. Ryle is a running team first. They use the run to set up the pass. This game was about getting beat by the better team. In order for Ryle to beat Trinity they had to play an almost perfect game. It did not happen. Fumble on your own 20, fumble on the bubble screen(or whatever you want to call it), penalties,etc. The coaches can call whetever they want but the players still have to play. So, to blame this lose on the coaching staff is unfair. But I agree they could throw the ball more.

You know, its interesting that people talk about how coaches need to change but one thing I have learned in 35 years of watching football is that coaches tend to not want to change. Will these old school Boone Co guys ever lose the Power I? Will Bobby Redman ever decide to run a different defense then the one that he has used since he started coaching? There is a long list that could be mentioned here. Im not trying to thread jack this into a different thread, but I think its hard to consider what a coach needs to do because, after all, they are the coach. If they feel it works well and the younger kids have learned it, they will stick with it. I have felt for years that somewhere, sometime, somone would come along and absolutely jack Male's defense up. Enter Beatty. I think you do have to learn from losses but I agree that there are times when a coach might want to stop and think "Maybe I need to look at adding someting different here just in case our normal stuff doesnt work". And people also need to realize that you can actually still be a physical running team and spread the field out. THe point of having multiple formations, imo, is to give your team the best advantage against an opponent and sometimes, putting 7 to 8 guys on the line of scrimmage to run the ball doesnt necessarily do it. But if you are able to spread them out more and get most of the defense away from the box, then you can still run the ball well. Heck, Florida does this pretty well. So does West Virginia. I hope teams like Ryle learn from these types of games. You dont need 100 different plays when you can run 20 out of 100 different formations that gives you the best opportunity to have success against a defense. And vice versa on defense.

I watched the game. It was 3-0 when they fumbled. 1 play later 10-0. Next series fumble, on a pass play. 13-0. Suddenly your down 13-0 against the best team in the state. This game was over before half. So please explain to me what I need to watch. Did you want them to come out in the 2nd half and toss the ball around down 27-0?

Congrats to T on the win. They were very impressive. Everytime (no matter what year) I watch Trinity, I walk away thinking that they shouldn't have won by that much. I guess at some point they just create those 'breaks' for themselves. DD is right... 3rd and long and short fields killed Ryle's D, who I didn't think played too bad (I left at 27-0 though).

I do not know where they got their info. I just spoke to the Idaho St. AD (Paul Bubb) and was told that a search was underway for a new coach, but no on campus interviews have been conducted.

Linemen can be downfield on a pass behind the line of scrimmage, aka a screen.
