4A State Championship: Trinity 41 Ryle 7

Featured Replies

Play calling was huge in this game - great by T and poor by R. And, 4 first quarter IFS that went the other way would have changed the score drastically. IF the first offensive play that fooled T is caught and goes for 6, you have a completely different ball game due to the momentum and field position factor (a crucial drop on a perfectly thrown ball). IF R recovers the muffed punt and IF they do not make two critical short-field turnovers, you have a completely different game. Many times during the game, Ryle made 2-3 excellent defensive stops in a row with some nice TFL's and then Petrino makes an outstanding play on 3rd or 4th and long to save the day. IFS don't get it done, that's why T is tops in the state. Congrats to them.

Talk about a slap in the face: Ryle has no talent!

I never said that Ryle had no talent? I have my belly full of the numerous posts that my team has little talent! Again, we respect the Ryle Players very much. But my question to everyone is " What does my Team have to do in order to gain Respect" ?

RockPower we have already earned the respect, it is a question that should not even be asked. This happened in 1968!

They have my respect. I thought the players, coaches and especialy the T fans I talked to were great folks, and proud of a fantastic program, as they should be.

I really don't think those IFS would have changed the outcome. If the pass is caught its still an IF that he scores.Ryle's offense failed to get anything going. Their defense was beaten badly on a number of match-ups. If there ever was a team that didn't look "ready to play", it was the Raiders. The Raiders had a number of other chances to throw the ball, they turned out to less than perfectly thrown. My advice to NKY 4A is to understand that their first enemy in right in their own backyard. You must raise above the 3As and 1As. That is job one. Only then will you be on your way to winning 4A (6A now). Another thing, learn to pass and defend the pass. Good luck.

I havn't seen a post (and I would love for you to produce them if I'm wrong) that has ever said Trinity doesn't have talent. Maybe they don't have D1 talent, but they have great players all over the field and the scores this year have reflected that. Saying not one Ryle player could play for Trinity is a fairly presumptuous post, especially with the way you have stereotyped all Ryle fans based on a couple of posts,

It may have changed the score a little but not the outcome. Ryle's defense played well early but the offense could get NOTHING going. Better field position and an absence of early turnovers would have only delayed the inevitable.

Less Talent then Ryle????? What a slap in the face. This Senior Class of players have over the last 4 years lost just 3 Games!! against Teams from Louisville, Northern Ky., Lexington, Nashville etc. and have 2 Ky. State Championship Rings to show for their hard work!!. In all due respect name 2 players on Ryle`s Team that would have started on this Trinity Team? I would just love to see the Ryle and Northern Ky. Fans show the class, respect and good sportsmenship that the Ryle Players did on the field at the end of the game. The Trinity Football Team has the utmost respect for the entire Club!!

How many State Championships do we need to win to get our due RESPECT???

Thanks for all of the great memories.

Sorry for the confusion I seemed to cause! I was not trying to say they had less talent than Ryle. I was trying to say I thought talent wise it was pretty even,IMO. Also, stated if you look at the entire post how you can't beat teams like the T's of the world being one dimensional. To beat teams with equal or slightly better talent than you, you need a more diverse offensive attack. And Coach Warner a member of the '94 Boone team(I am pretty sure he was) should understand this as much as anyone.

In no way did I state anything disrespectful about Trinity. But in my opinion in terms of pure athletic football talent I don't think there is much if any seperation between the teams. It is the preperation of the coach's at T coupled with the dedication and execution of their players that seperate them from the rest of the teams in the state.

(*see the Trinity more with less thread)

Trinity is an impressive football program and they do deserve the respect. Congratulations on a well played game Thursday night.

Raiders congratulations on making it to the finals.

If you know so much about football and all the things we did wrong why don't you come help us sorry coaches at Ryle next year.

hey when is the 4-a game going to be on tv?? I thought it was going to be on sunday at 11:30am, but it was not....................

But before this game, Ryle people thought Bryson Warner/Ryle coaching staff was the best ever...What would the Hockmans had done with this team?!?!? Maybe not have beat Trinity but it would have maybe been respectatable!

I honestly think after the first half Warner was trying to "not get blown out" instead of trying to get back into the football game?!?!?!

The Hockmans would have never taken this team to a state final. They would have had no discipline, which is the first block in wining. You don't allow a player to walk off the practice field during the week and play on friday, and take any team to a state final.
