Mayer was the best player on the field, no doubt. However, the rest of the Colonels played inspired football. The tackling was very sound tonight and when it was needed most, the O Line did a great job of helping the Colonels possess the ball and run out the clock. And, the pass protection was excellent. On D, the DBs fought their tails off and did a great job setting the edge on stretch plays. Just a really strong team effort. The kids should be very proud. They earned it and frankly, kicked LaSalle’s tail.

Without question-the better team won.

Congrats to the Colonels. See ya next week.

Recap: Covington Catholic vs. La Salle 2

Is Mayer a junior or a senior? I know he's committed Notre Dame.

Senior.

Not according to the rankings!!

They are behind both Elder and St. Xavier in the Ohio state football rankings. Thank you. I was at the game last night. Great game from CCH.

I don’t want to hijack a thread so this is my last comment on this and you are free to say as you please: some services have them higher, and some services have them lower than the aforementioned teams. I appreciate that you saw the Colonels win in dominant fashion over one of the top teams in Ohio.

I agree.

Great job CCH! I thought Moeller was hanging around with LaSalle a little too much the week before. CCH probably just exposed LaSalle in a big way.

No matter what happens with La Salle the rest of the season, there is no discounting this as anything other than a very impressive win for Covington Catholic.

This morning factoring in last night's games calpreps.com has Covington Catholic ranked #2 in the state behind Male and ahead of #3 Trinity.

Who exactly?

Ohhhh no. Here we go again. You are going to pull all the Trinity people out of the woodwork stating that CCH shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as Trinity. Trinity is the best team in the country, no one will ever compare to the domination of the Trinity program. LOL.
