Covington Catholic 27 LaSalle (OH) 7

Featured Replies

No matter what happens with La Salle the rest of the season, there is no discounting this as anything other than a very impressive win for Covington Catholic.

CCH has to be the clear favorite to win state right? Even with this LaSalle team being overrated, they won’t see a more talented team will they?

I don't think La Salle is overrated. You mentioned the Moeller game. Moeller also had Cincinnati St. X. beat and let it slip away, losing 27-24. Is Cincinnati St. X. over rated too?

Fred Douglas is likely the main obstacle from here. Any given Friday... One game at a time.

This morning factoring in last night's games calpreps.com has Covington Catholic ranked #2 in the state behind Male and ahead of #3 Trinity.

Hypothetical matchups and rankings are tough to argue or defend, but thinking logically, it isn't hard to see why a computer would rank the top 3 in that order.

With AJ Maher and the offense going wild two years ago the defense wasn’t as appreciated. The D has made these three years possible.

Covington Catholic: 320 yards of offense

LaSalle: 114 yards of offense

LaSalle stats had it 359 - 187 in favor of the Colonels.

Well I guess we will see if LaSalle is overrated or not over the next 3 weeks. If they bounce back, they clearly aren’t.

Since Coach Eviston took over for the Colonels in 2015, we have won both of the games we've ever played against Indiana teams, we've gone 7-4 against Ohio opponents, and we're 1-1 against GCL South opponents.

It never hurts to have a 6’5 250LB MLB who outruns speed guys and intimidates teams that that they run NOTHING over the middle.
