Highlands hung with a superior Knoxville Catholic (TN) team last week only losing by three. The Birds have six more games before they play CCH in Fort Thomas and that got me thinking.

 

I will take a stab at it first, I am going to break it down in two groups, the no way group and the maybe group.

 

No way these teams beat Highlands:

Campbell County

Conner

Boone County

 

These teams may beat Highlands:

Simon Kenton

Ryle

Boyle County

 

What do you think, will Highlands lose another game before their showdown with CovCath?

Boyle is the only name that should be on that list. Ryle and SK will both be 28+ pt wins. Obviously, anything is possible with injuries, but assuming Buten and Hollingsworth are healthy, this team has 2 REALLY tough games the rest of the year (Boyle and Cov Cath). SK and Ryle have a few solid individual players, but just don't have the talent across the board.

Highlands vs. Boyle is going to be the only game that Highlands will enter as either a toss-up or an underdog.

 

Simon Kenton "should" be in that maybe group, but whatever that effort was against Anderson won't cut it for them to have a chance.

I agree. If everyone stays healthy, only Boyle will challenge Highlands.

I watched Ryle play CovCath, and if the Raiders beat the Birds, Highlands is in a mess of trouble.

I think you are correct in your "maybe" teams.

I also think CovCath is on a whole different level and believe they are better than they were last year for sure and maybe on the same level as the 2017 team.

I'll say it. Boyle County is the only team that will beat Highlands before their showdown with Covington Catholic.

I'm no expert on Boyle County, but reading this site voraciously, and trying to compare results...only marginal.

Boyle County only one that has shot.

Everyone has a shot; that is why the games are played on the field.

I think Boyle County is the only team with a shot. I won’t be able to attend that game but I’ll try to follow along as best I can. I think Boyle County wins that game but it should be another classic between these two programs.

I'd say they're about the same if not 90% as good. Still too early to tell for sure thought. I think Highlands is going to be even tougher than last year for CovCath. It's going to be prime rivalry form imo.
