1 1/2- 2 hours is not a long trip for a football game. I was raised in Southwest Colorado. For Durango to play another team in it's district; Grand Junction, Grand Junction Central and Fruita high schools were 4 1/2 hours by bus. The closest district opponent was Cortez which was 1 hour away. God forbid you made the state tournament and spent 10+ hours on a bus to get to the Denver area. The driving distances in Kentucky are very reasonable no matter who you are playing.

I thought the Colonels had a mostly Junior/senior line. Maybe a little inexperienced but played as many minutes as last years starters.

 

You're correct..."new" would have been the more appropriate description. Lots of new faces since they graduated nearly all of last year's starting O-line.

I’m pretty sure LC will dent the goal line 2-3 times with almost all of their yardage via Air Allen. Can’t see LC stopping CovCath in a high scoring game - perhaps 56-20.

Lex Cath's frontline is what makes me question the Knights on both sides of the ball.

 

This is my key as well, I think CovCath's front 7 will be in the backfield all night and the outstanding QB will find it very difficult to ever get his feet set to deliver one of his patented dimes. His skill is not in question, but even the greatest need a little time to operate an offense.

 

Felix will have a big day on the ground and the QB will use play-action to find some big plays to Mayer and others.

 

Something along the lines of 42-14, and I think CovCath causes at least 3 turnovers. Heck, I'll even go out on a limb and call for one pick-six.

Line of scrimmage... that is the only key to the game that matters here.

 

I love me some Beau Allen, but Allen is going to have a hard time against CovCath and his defensive running mates will have an equally difficult time.

42-7 in favor of Cov Cath. Lex Cath scores late. I don't think Allen will have enough time to get comfortable and throw it.

I like @ATLCat prediction. Allen will not get blanked at all. But defense for the Knights will be the challenge.

 

When you want minimize the times the other other team has the ball then a quick strike offense is actually not the best approach - but its the typical LexCath style, especially with Allen at QB. Long, quick strikes are exciting, but then the D is right back out on the field.

 

The "long trip" is not that long by LexCath standards when Marion and Taylor countie are in your district. And there were times when regular season games had to be scheduled against Lone Oak in Paducah on a Friday night. That was a long trip for a regular season game!
