Reds Deadline Rumors/Moves

Featured Replies

Wish the deadline approaching I figured it would be beneficial to go ahead and make a thread specifically for Reds moves and rumors rather than crowding a series thread.

Recently the Reds have been connected to Blackmon. If the Reds are truly going to be buyers, then I can see this move, but they can’t buy and lose some of the MLB talent they have in the pipeline, and I’m afraid that’s what it would take.

The Blackmon idea makes no sense to me. The guy is 33 years old, and while he would be under contract for the next two years...it's at $21.5 million per year. No thanks. I'd rather them take that money, sign Scooter (who's 4 years younger) and/or Alex Wood/Tanner Roark to new contracts instead.

Amir Garrett is being targeted by contenders.

How much longer is he under team control? If it’s more than 2 years (and it just about has to be) the Reds can’t do that. He’s an absolute force.

If they are going to do it, it needs to be an absolute haul.

I would like to see the Reds do what they can to move R. Iglesias.

Don’t take an absolutely bad deal, but even if you can make it a wash I think it’s worth it only due to the fact that we’ve seen the difference in getting a bad egg out of the clubhouse. (See Homer Bailey)

I think he actually could have a decent future still, but it sure seems to me that him and Bell are simply masking a bad relationship at this point.

I agree 100% with you @CincySportsFan about Charlie Blackmon. Why would you take that salary for an aging player? I love Blackmon but it's a bad deal to make.

I've read that Puig may be in demand. I would trade him in a heartbeat if you could get something of value in return. He's no spring chicken and his contract demands will not be team friendly to the Reds for 2020 and beyond. The future stats he may put up will never justify what they'll pay him. Puig would be my first priority to move.

I can't be sure of it, but I believe that I heard that Blackmon was a .350 at home and a .250 hitter on the road.

Close. Hits .350 at home and .260 on the road - career stats.

Agree 100%. I have felt he has been trying to pitch his way out of town. Meaning, if I stink the joint up enough they will deal me. Just about mastered the late inning homerun pitch.

Why do the Reds want Blackmon when we have Trammel on the verge of the major leagues. Makes no sense.

While I would love to see Blackmon playing for Cincinnati I don’t think we need him as much as we do another starting pitcher. I see the Mets willing to give up Syndergard and I’m thinking what could we offer them. I am not sold on Trammell, if he was that good he would at least be triple A by now and he’s not. India that I loved from Florida is still in Dayton. When you gave studs in Castillo and Gray under control for a while you can’t wait on young guys. Go all in. We could be dangerous with those 3 on our staff next season. Go for it Redlegs!!

The Reds are sellers.

I agree on Iglesias. Teams will overpay for a closer and the Reds should cash in.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Sonny Gray moved for the right price. Moving those two would bring a nice little haul for the Reds.

We’ve been after good pitching for years! Now that you have a good young pitcher under a good contract WHY would you want to look to move him??
