Guess you aren't giving much respect to Texas Tech as preseason #9 ranking? Can also throw in preseason #25 Ohio State.

 

And are we still pretending that the SEC is the conference of yesteryear or that they are actually a pretty strong basketball conference now? Excluding Kentucky, there are still four teams in the top 25. They will still face #10 Florida, #18 LSU, #21 Auburn, and #22 Tennessee.

 

I think their schedule is going to have more than plenty on it for them to build a respectable resume for March.

After conference play has already started, sorry, I should have been more specific. It very well may be, but in late January, UK will have already played a road SEC game at that point.

 

So the first true road game will be in conference play. I don't think that's wise.

 

Schedule is okay. I didn't realize Ohio State was expected to be a Top 25 team, so the Michigan State, UL, Texas Tech, & Ohio State games are nice.

 

I don't expect a lot from Utah & I'm sure the Georgia Tech game is being done as a favor to Josh Pastner. Evansville for Walter McCarty. Utah State for Mark Pope, even though he left there for BYU.

I don't mind the scheduling. I obviously love having Louisville on the schedule and getting to play either MSU, Duke, or Kansas every year, but I would much rather have Indiana and/or UNC home and home contracts than these other neutral site games or a home and home with GT (don't quite understand the upside there). I'd love to hear the thoughts of season ticket holders though. I'd be pretty upset that the only guaranteed good OOC game every other year is Louisville.

Look, we would all love to have home and home series with Duke, Kansas, UCLA, the Monstars, etc. But it ain't happening. It is an unwritten collective decision of college coaches they are not going to do it. There is zero evidence it means anything to the long term success of a team and schools/coaches are concerned with security.

Preseason rankings mean absolutely nothing and the SEC still has lots of work to do in order to be considered a strong basketball conference.

I think we should all know the strength differences between EKU and MichSt, just saying Top 25 Preseason polls hardly ever pan out.

Georgia Tech from the ACC is on paper the weakest Power 5 team they play. The other 5 are all legit teams.

Utah was 3rd in the Pac 12 last year,.

I feel like people bring this up every year and I say the same thing. Coach K and Coach Cal schedule in a similar fashion. They both know road games are irrelevant. They prepare their teams for March. How many conference tourney and NCAA tourney games are played on the road as opposed to Neutral site games ? Get the early season wins at home to allow your young team to gain confidence before conference play and prepare for March. All this talk about road games is irrelevant.

Just because they are P5 doesn't make it a decent game. I'm not trying to knock the schedule as I agree it is good enough, but let's not make it more than what it is.
