November 23, 200619 yr How good of a recruiter is Tom Crean? I know that he has a great eye for talent especially the ones that fly under the radar but how good of a recruiter could he be at a place like UK? If he could recruit well at UK I'd like to bring him in. He seems like someone who is very personable an fun to play for and his teams are usually pretty good.
November 24, 200619 yr Aside from being UK alum, what in the world has Travis Ford done that warrants him taking over at UK? Seriously... He led a team into the field of 65, big deal. He didn't exactly play in a beastly conference either. I like him just as much as the next guy... But really... I don't know why everyone thinks he's so great. Anybody who can explain I'd appreciate it.
November 24, 200619 yr Tubby isn't going anywhere soon, unless it is his own decision. Even though I am one of the biggest Tubby haters on the site, I will admit its way too early to start the get rid of Tubby talk. Kentucky has lost to two teams that were simply better than them, ranked higher than them, so no real cause for concern. However, I do feel it is ridiculous that UCLA is once again more dominant than UK, and that Memphis is a better program. Its sad that UK is no longer on an elite level, and it is a shame this is the state Kentucky basketball is in. Though like said, way too early to start calling for the kill shot because we lost games we were supposed to lose anyway.
November 24, 200619 yr If Tubby does leave, which of these coaches would actually leave his job for the position at Uk?
November 24, 200619 yr If Tubby does leave, which of these coaches would actually leave his job for the position at Uk? Everyone mentioned with maybe the exception of Billy D.
November 24, 200619 yr As far as I know U.K. is not in the market for a basketball coach. Imo we have a very good one.
November 24, 200619 yr As far as I know U.K. is not in the market for a basketball coach. Imo we have a very good one. Kentucky is not in the market for a new basketball coach, however there is nothing special about Tubby Smith. He may be a good coach, but not very good, he hasn't done enough to be considered anything close to elite.
November 24, 200619 yr Tubby Smith won't get fired. He may resign or go elsewhere due to pressure from higher athorities, but if UK fires a black coach who has a winning percentage like Tubby's then UK's administration will get crucified.
November 24, 200619 yr I doubt he will be fired too, he has way to good of a winning %. But I wish he could get the players to play well all the time and move around on offense. Also and calm ramel down from shooting when he feels the like it. But over all tubby has done good just the players isn't getting it done either.

He did very well as the lead recruter while Izzo was ripping off Final Four runs. IF Tubby were to leave, I think Crean is the best choice for UK....

He may be a good coach, but not very good, he hasn't done enough to be considered anything close to elite. A .773 winning % would put OTS in some pretty good company. Compare it to the other UK coaches and tell me if they were in an elite group. You are entitled to your opinion about Tubby but to say he hasn't done anything just doesn't hold water.
November 24, 200619 yr I like Tubby and I even like his commercials ( LOL ) but I do think that the program prestige has take a slide and if another 10-loss season happens this year than we should be looking for a new coach. People fail to realize that UK is known for being in the Top 10 annually and be a REAL contender for the Nationa Title year in and year out.

November 24, 200619 yr I don't know. If he doesn't have a 10-loss season, I would assume he would be back. But, if he does have a season that is anything comparable to that, will he be forced to resign or be fired? I think that Mitch understands the fans wants and if another 10-loss season should happen, I think Tubby might be gone. You're talking like you got your head ............... ohh, never mind. Tubby will be back.
