We haven't been a top-tier program for several years now - I still watch every single minute of every game, even if that entails sitting up to 2:00AM on a work night. I cheer just as hard for the walkons as I do for Randolph Morris. I bleed blue and that's why I'm concerned about the state of the program.

What does that have to do with Memphis and UCLA?

 

I doubt if anyone's going to change their schedules around so that Butler can play Memphis or UCLA. Gonzaga would be UK by 20 right now, so we'll see how it goes against them tonight.

Kentucky is not in the market for a new basketball coach, however there is nothing special about Tubby Smith. He may be a good coach, but not very good, he hasn't done enough to be considered anything close to elite.

 

Its funny how only UK fans say he is not an elite coach, while every other person in America just about consider him one of the best coaches in America...

Wow this thread is extremely funny. UK losses two games and now its time for fire Tubby again. We have played now 5 games in 8 days and played 3 in 60 hours so do you all think that maybe fatigue was a little problem in the second half. Because in the first half I saw a team that was right there with Memphis...Also if we had beat UCLA which we had our chance to do, we probably would still be undefeated right now. But with the loss we had to play Memphis who was not the best matchup for this team after already playing two straight games...

I really dont take into consideration what most of you Tubby haters say, because I really think no matter what he does, the same people wouldn't like him. Say this if Tubby had made the final four in 03 with the great team we had with Bogans until he got hurt, and say we made the final four in that tough double overtime loss to Michigan State, would you all still want Tubby gone still?

 

I think you all would still, but simply because you all dont like the style of Tubby's teams more than anything else. You all want to see that fast pace style Pitino used, so no matter what Tubby would have done here you all wouldn't have been happy. If we would have made those 2 final fours like I said, you all would be saying well he can get us to the final four but he just cant win them, then you all would talk about the 10 loss seasons and stuff too. So I know I really am getting tired of some of you and hating Tubby because if he had made a couple of final fours and didn't win the title those years, you same people would still not like him and try to come up with something else to say he is not the right coach for this team...

Wow I guess Coach K needs to get fired then too, because you all keep talking about Duke, but they have done the same thing as us lately and that is getting knocked out early in the tournament. Actually I think maybe you take the average finish in the tournament from the last 4 years, I think Tubby's teams at UK have been finishing better than great Coach K's Duke teams...:sssh:

While we are at this thread, we should also talk about replacements on who should be the next coaches at Duke, UNC, Kansas, etc. Because well Coach K apparently is not as good as he once was, because his teams cant do well in the tournament anymore, so they need to bring in some young guy now too. Then at UNC wow Roy Williams won a title with another coaches recruits as you all say, and then last year get knocked out of the tournament before the final four, and now this year they lose to a Gonzaga team who lost its 2 best players from the year before, so he needs to go because he cant get it done. Then finally Bell Self at Kansas, please someone get him out of there because he has just destroyed that program since Roy Williams left, because I mean look they suppose to have a very talented team, but they go and lose to Oral Roberts? Please that cant happen at a place like Kansas, so Bill Self needs to be replaced too. Wait a minute I forgot about the the almighty Pitino. Yeah he made the final four 2 years ago, but then he follows that up with just an NIT appearance, and then this year they have a very tough game with some small school that I cant think of the name right now, and not to mention they about loss to a NAIA school in Georgetown. So he just cant cut it anymore either.

 

So wow from some UK fans standards, we have alot of schools that need to go out and find some new coaches this year....

I don't think the problem is so much the win total. They'll get 20+ wins probably. I think the problem is who they beat and who they don't beat. It's easy getting wins against Miss Valley St, DePaul, UMass, College of Charleston, EKU and teams like that. But whenever you get beat by most of the ranked teams, that's where the problem is.

 

To me, it's not just about losing 2 games. It's several years of doing nothing. If UK had made the Final Four last year, or even the year before, I doubt many people would be so upset. I've told people for several years now, that if UK would make it to the Final Four, I would get off his case. But until then, not a chance. It seems to me that a lot of people want to point out the Tubby "won" the title in '98 so he deserves credit. But when the team constantly gets bounced in the 2nd or 3rd round, it's not his fault, they just don't have the players. Strange.
